The Watch

Here we have an Unworn Timex Giorgio Galli S1 Blue Automatic designed by the Timex Group Creative Director Giorgio Galli, a 41mm injection-moulded brushed stainless steel case has lateral cut-outs along its sides leading to subtly curved lugs and the lug-to-lug length of 49.3mm and a case thickness of 12.3mm ensure a comfortable fit. On the right side, a push/pull crown, a smooth bevel-edged brushed bezel holds a domed K1 Hardened IGN/A3 Glass above a silver radially brushed dial. Applied double-polished faceted baton indexes play with the light as you rotate your wrist marking the hours, slender hands infilled with luminance complemented by a tapered second hand, at 12 o’clock we have the Timex motif and at 6 o’clock inlaid synthetic ruby which highlights its quality movement. On the reverse a screw-down exhibition case back, inside an automatic Miyota movement. The watch comes paired with a 20mm synthetic rubber quick-release strap and rivet strap keeper designed by Giorgio Galli and the watch comes with its Timex presentation box and a case brush.

Personal Note

This release really feels like Timex is flexing its muscles showing the watch world what it can do, whilst still providing the watch at an affordable price bracket. A fantastic designer producing something that truly is striking on and off the wrist, I do wonder if this will become an icon of Timex in the future and we'll look back and remember when you could pick one up at a nice discount on RRP like this one? Who knows...

The Brand

Thomas Olsen purchased the Waterbury Clock Company founded in 1854. In 1941 they renamed the company Timex. Its headquarters can be found in Middlebury, Connecticut, USA. In 1933 we saw the Mickey Mouse watch’s introduction, which sold an incredible 2 million watches to children worldwide. In 1972 Timex released its first quartz watch, the Q-Timex. Another historic landmark for Timex in 1984 saw the introduction of the world's first quartz sports watch, the Ironman.
