The Watch

Here we have an Unworn 2023 Louis Erard x Konstantin Chaykin limited to 178 pieces, two horology houses have come together to create a unique blend of abstract design and function in their collaboration. The 39mm polished stainless steel case curves over your wrist with long straight lugs, and a lug-to-lug length of 45mm and a case thickness of 13mm ensures a comfortable fit. On the right side is the signature Chaykin signed crown with knurling for extra grip. The polished smooth bezel holds a domed sapphire crystal AR coated on both sides above a distinctive monster dial. Konstantin Chaykin has given the Louis Erard Le Régulateur watch a unique touch by taking inspiration from Slavic folklore, in this folklore, there is a mythical creature known as Likho, which is believed to bring bad luck and misfortune, Likho is portrayed as a one-eyed monster. The silver dial boasts a captivating sunray wave pattern, with a purple outer minute track framing a satin-brushed anthracite hour sub-dial at 12 o'clock, the hour ring features white numerals and a large rotating black dot for the hour hand on a white background that resembles the Cyclops' eye. At 6 o'clock, a shiny red sub-dial with a white background and a rotating matte black star-shaped seconds hand represents the monster's roaring mouth. A black stylized minute hand, resembling a serpent, arrow or middle finger depending on how you see it, precisely highlights the minutes. The Konstantin Chaykin logo is located at 12 o'clock, while the Louis Erard logo completes this inspiring collaborative timepiece at 6 o'clock. On the reverse a screw-down exhibition case back showcasing the automatic Sellita SW 266-1, 31 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, the élaboré grade movement has a Louis Erard-modified rotor. The watch comes paired with a 20mm black toad leather strap, purple-dyed rabbit leather lining and a polished steel pin buckle and the watch comes with its Louis Erard presentation box and paperwork.

Personal Note

Watches like these are what bring a smile to the industry, with release after release of a different dial colour or a slightly larger case, brands like Louis Erard & Konstantin Chaykin offer something truly unique and still for a fantastic price! This collaboration is one a lot of people wanted but doubted would happen, thankfully it happened and it is better than we could have hoped for! I wouldn't hesitate on this one, snap it up whilst you can.

The Brand

Louis Erard was born in 1893. In 1929 he founded his watchmaking school and a casing company in La Chaux‑de‑Fonds (Neuchâtel, Switzerland). He named the Company: Louis Erard & André Perret. Production of their first watches began in 1931. In 1956 they obtained permission to manufacture their movements, something only the very best achieved this accolade. For ten years from 1993 until 2003, the company remained closed. In 2003 the company was bought by private investors. Today they continue to expand the boundaries of Horology.

Konstantin Chaykin was born in St. Petersburg in 1975, he is a Russian inventor and a master of haute horlogerie (High Art of Watchmaking). In 2003 he founded Konstantin Chaykin Manufactory in Russia where his unique timepieces have enthralled collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. He became a member of the AHCI (Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants) in 2010. One of his most famous pieces is “Joker”  with its eyes for minutes and hours and the mouth is a moon phase resembling the tongue, which was released in 2017.
