Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Christopher Ward box and paperwork. The watch comes paired on its original Christopher Ward signed leather strap with a signed buckle. The watch is from January 2022 and is sold in unworn condition, as you can see. The watch comes with its original Manufacturer Warranty.

The Watch

Founded in 2005 by Mike France, Peter Ellis, and Christopher Ward they started the world's first online-only watch brand. Launched from a converted chicken shed on a farm in Berkshire. Soon after the launch of the brand Dave Malone was a Tasmanian lecturer and watch expert. When he saw the press ad for a watch powered by an ETA 2824–2 automatic movement, he decided to buy one. He planned to write a critical review on the world’s largest watch forum, Timezone.com. Fortunately for Christopher Ward, his review was most complimentary. Stating the watch was the “best value mechanical watch in the world”. Sales immediately spiked and Christopher Ward became firmly established. After receiving such high praise in the industry and from collectors in 2008 they began work with assistance from a Swiss watchmaking company: Synergies Horlogères. Based in Biel, Switzerland. SH was owned and led by Jörg Bader who had the same vision Christopher Ward had on designing a new movement. After many years of design and development, July 2nd, 2014 saw the announcement to an astounding watch industry of their own in-house movement, Calibre SH21, the first commercially viable mechanical movement from a British watch brand in over 50 years.

Here we have an Unworn 2022 Christopher Ward C8 Pilot Revival Special Edition. The reincarnated C8 Pilot watch is limited to 200 pieces in steel and has the Chr.Ward Logo on this watch only.  This watch is inspired by the ‘B-Uhren’ watches worn by pilots and navigators during World War Two. The 44mm 316L Marine Grade stainless steel case curves over your wrist with a lug to lug length of  53mm and a case thickness of 11.5mm ensuring a comfortable fit. On the right side is a push-down oversized crown with deep knurling for extra grip when wearing thick gloves as worn by those pilots and navigators. The sloping smooth bezel holds a flat AR-coated sapphire crystal above a matte black dial. An outer minute track with batons coated in Super-LumiNova C1 BL Grade X1. Just as the original ‘B-Uhren’ dials we have the characteristic triangle at 12 o’clock and Arabic numeral indexes marking the hours.  Text is precisely executed on the high visibility dial with matte black sword hands complemented by a lollipop balanced sweeping second hand. On the reverse, a screw-down engraved exhibition case back. Inside an Automatic Sellita SW200-1, 26 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. The rotor is nicely decorated with the twin flag engraving. The watch comes fitted on its 22mm vintage style Christopher Ward leather strap with a quick-release for your convenience. The watch also comes with its presentation box and papers.

Personal Note

This is one for those of you who go on and on about the new CW Logo, for me I like the old one and the new one, but some out there still are incredibly offended about the logo and Christopher Ward listen, good on them! I'm excited to see what other limited editions they release under the "Revival" lineup.
