The Watch
WMT (Watch Experimental Unit)is a Hongkong based company founded by Alan Shum. Specialising in customised vintage Rolex homage watches with Japanese movements. Each watch is hand-assembled and given a distressed treatment making it unique. Their online store gives you many custom options creating a watch of your liking.
This WMT Royal Marine is limited to 100 pieces. It takes its design cues from the Rolex "Comex" Submariner. The 39mm stainless steel case gently tapers towards the lugs. A lug to lug length of 47mm and a thickness of 15mm ensures you a comfortable fit. Polished and brushed surfaces have crisp separation lines. On the right side, a screw-down signed crown with crown guards. The bezel has knurled edging for grip and a black aluminum dive insert. A double domed acrylic crystal protects a black dial. Lumed indexes with faux patina mark the hours. Mercedes's hands are complemented with a lollipop seconds hand, again lumed with the faux patina. On the reverse a screw-down case back. Inside an Automatic Seiko NH35, 24 Jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. Fitted on a 20mm stainless steel 3 link bracelet with a special WMT flip-lock clasp designed for this limited edition.
Personal Note
I personally feel WMT offers an incredible watch at an affordable price and do it in the design of the watches most of us can only ever dream of owning, whilst sure they won't be for everyone, but that is ok, I personally own one so we know where I stand with them.
