Here we have a Tag Heuer SEL Chronometer Automatic WG5111-PO with a 38mm satin-finished stainless steel case, this is part of the “Sports Elegance” range designed by Eddie Schopfer. The rounded edges lead to a lug-to-lug length of 43mm and a case thickness of 9.5mm ensuring a comfortable fit on your wrist, on the right side is a signed screw-down crown protected by crown guards, and the unidirectional bezel has deeply engraved numerals painted in black and deep knurling around its edge for extra grip. The flat sapphire crystal sits above a black dial, an outer minute track is precisely printed with applied 9 and 6 numerals and rounded baton indexes infilled with luminance marking the hours, and at 3 o’clock a date window. An inner steel polished ring surrounds the elegant Mercedes hands infilled with luminance complemented with a lollipop counterweighted second-hand, at 12 o’clock an applied TAG Heuer motif and at 6 o’clock “Chronometer Officially Certifed 200m” completes this elegant sports watch. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with an engraved TAG Heuer shield in the centre, inside an Automatic movement. The watch comes fitted on its 20mm TAG Heuer sculpted link stainless steel bracelet with a signed folding clasp.
Personal Note
It's not every day that one of these original SEL chronometers' come up for sale, a truly unique design for its time and is still used by TAG today with their Link range, modernised for today. TAG Heuer often gets a hard time, but they truly do have great hidden gems among their lineup, I'd highly recommend giving them some time and you may find one you love.
