The Watch
Steinhart was founded in 2001 in Augsburg, Germany by Gunther Steinhart. The Steinhart Ocean One 39 case is made from 316L stainless steel. Satin brushed finish on the top of the lugs and polished sides of the case, transition with a crisp edge. The 39mm case has a 47mm lug-to-lug making it comfortable on the wrist. The bezel has a green ceramic insert and black dial giving it it’s nickname “Kermit'', that plays with the light as you move your wrist. A luminous pip at the 12 o'clock position. The deep knurling on the side of the bezel helps in getting a good grip on the bezel for easy operation. The 120 clicks bezel has a satisfying click action. The screw-down crown is good for 300m water resistance. Flat Sapphire crystal with inner AR coating makes it perfect in difficult lighting situations. At 3 o’clock a date window with cyclops magnification. The black dial has an outer minute track, applied Super-LumiNova lumed discs and batons mark the hours. Elegant Mercedes hands with a sweeping second hand lumed with Super-LumiNova. The screw-down case back has the Steinhart Poseidon on his chariot engraved on it. Inside either an Automatic ETA 2824-2 /SW200 elabore (improved) 25 Jewels on the ETA and 26 Jewels on the SW200 28,800 Beats per hour. Since 2010 the Swatch Group who owns ETA has put restrictions on other brands using their ETA movements. Whether it's the ETA or the Sellita both movements are workhorses. Fitted on a 20 mm Satin brushed stainless steel bracelet with screw links and fliplock.
Personal Note
Some give Steinhart a lot of flack, but truthfully the build quality that is provided for the price is just insane and nothing really comes close. Now, yes, the design is a total rip-off of the Rolex Submariner, but if you are looking for that style without having to pay the money they are fetching now, this is a great affordable alternative! You will not be disappointed.
