The Watch

Seiko reissued in 2014 their iconic 7A28-6000 80s chronographs worn by Bishop the science officer in the 1986 film Aliens. Once again designed by Giugiaro, you can see some similarities with Ripley’s watch. He designed the watch for their “Speed Master Line” and it was intended to be used when on a motorbike due to its asymmetric design. The Seiko Giugiaro SCED019 limited of 2000 is, however, quite unique with it’s offset and angled design. The buttons for the chronograph are oversized. Its dial is centered relative to the strap, but is inclined 5º from flat and rotated 15º from top to make it easier to read while on the right wrist. The case and bracelet are brushed stainless steel giving it the appearance of Titanium. The outer fifth of the black bezel and first three links are raised. On the right side the black pushers and recessed crown. Hardlex crystal sits above the black and teal blue dial. An outer tachymeter chapter ring. Teal blue batons mark the hours. recessed at 3 o’clock a 24-hour register, at 6 o’clock a 60-minute register, and finally at 9 o’clock the continuous 60-second register. Slim teal blue-coloured baton hands alongside a chronograph seconds hand. On the reverse a snap-on case back. Inside a quartz 7T12 Caliber movement. Fitted on its Seiko 18mm brushed stainless steel bracelet with signed folding clasp.
