Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Seagull box and paperwork. The watch comes paired with a well-fitted brown suede leather strap. The watch is from Circa. 2019 and is sold in worn condition, but overall this is in fantastic condition as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Seagull was founded in 1955 in the city of Tianjin, the oldest industrial city in China. In 1961, the Tianjin watch factory was given the task of developing an aviation watch for pilots in the Chinese air force. The Air Force gave it a confidential code for the watches as ’Project 304’. In 1963, Seagull created more than 30 prototypes, and the official version of ‘Project 304’ was produced. In 1974, the company started to export their watches, and they changed the name in English to ‘Seagull’.

Our Seagull Red Star 1963 Chronograph ST19 has a polished 38mm stainless steel case. Tapered lugs with a lug to lug length of 47mm and a thickness of 14mm ensures a comfortable fit on your wrist. A fine bezel holds a domed crystal. The cream dial has applied Arabic numerals and alternating arrow indexes marking the hours. On the right side, chronograph pushers and a crown in the center. The red star at 12 gives this model its name. At 3 o’clock a 30-minute register, at 9 o'clock the continuous 60 seconds. Thin blued hands with a red chronograph hand, add a vintage vibe. At 6 o’clock the Chinese text translates in English as "made in China". On the reverse an exhibition case back. Inside a Manually Wound Seagull ST-19, 19 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. Tianjin bought the Cal. 175 machinery and designs from Venus and then decided to upgrade the original 17-jewel movement to this 19-jewel ST19 movement. The watch comes fitted on an 18mm leather strap.

Personal Note

I've always enjoyed these and had multiple over the years, especially the same movement in other watches. A lot of watch for the money, clearly someone else agreed as this went before hitting the website!
