Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original Oris box or paperwork. The watch comes paired with a nice fitting blue suede strap. The watch is from Circa. Late 1990s and is sold in worn, vintage condition, but overall this is in good, original condition for its age as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

The Watch

Oris was founded by Paul Cattin and George Christian in the Swiss town of Hölstein.  They bought a factory and signed a contract with the mayor in 1904. Initially making pocket watches in 1925 they started to add bracelets to their pocket watches which soon transitioned into the wristwatch. By 1929, they had a total of six factories. At the end of the 1960s, Oris became one of the largest watch companies in the world, producing approximately 1.2 million timepieces a year. In 1982 Dr. Rolf Portmann and Ulrich W. Herzog led a management buyout from Swatch Group. Unhappy with the way the Group was running things. Oris SA was born as an independent Swiss watch brand. 2002 saw their distinctive Red Rotor become an Oris registered Trademark.

Here we have an Oris Diver 7457. Its mid-sized 35mm satin-brushed stainless steel case gently curves over your wrist. A lug to lug length of 42mm and a thickness of just 10mm ensures a comfortable fit. On the right side, a screw-down signed crown. The stainless steel bezel has deep markings and 3 stems that stick out from the edge, aiding you with the rotation of the unidirectional bezel. Sapphire crystal protects a deep blue dial. An outer chapter ring with white Arabic numerals marks the hours. Applied gilt-edged luminous indexes and lume filled hands are complemented with a sweeping lollipop seconds hand. At 3 o’clock a date window. Printing on the dial is well defined and completes the stunning dial. On the reverse a screw-down case back with the Oris shield in the center. Inside an Automatic ETA 2688, 17 Jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. First introduced in 1981 and ran until 2001. The watch is fitted on an 18mm blue suede strap.

Personal Note

I have always seen these pop up occasionally for sale online and always wondered how they wore due to the case size of 35mm and now we have one I can say it is incredible on the wrist, perfect for those with a smaller wrist or those who just enjoy smaller watches. The blue dial is great too, whilst we have gone full blue with the strap it also looks great on a brown too!
