Oris was founded in 1904 by two men, Paul Cattin and Georges Christian. The name comes from a brook in the Swiss town of Hölstein, in a short period they became the largest employer in Hölstein. By 1929, they had a total of six factories. At the end of the 1960s, Oris became one of the world’s largest watch companies, producing approximately 1.2 million timepieces a year.
This Oris Automatic Day/Date Rectangular 7525 has a 30mm high polished rectangular stainless steel curved case. You can see it's reminiscent of a Cartier Tank. The elegant curve of the lugs makes the watch comfortable to wear. A lug to lug length of 44mm and a thickness of 10.5mm gives the watch an excellent wrist presence. The case has a screw in each corner. On the right side, a signed crown. The stepped polished bezel gently curves with the case. A curved sapphire crystal sits above the black guilloche dial, radiating stretched Arabic numeral indexes mark the hours coated in luminescence. At 12 o’clock a day window and at 6 o’clock a date window. Elegant leaf hands are complemented by a fine tapered sweeping seconds hand with a teardrop counterbalance. The text at 6 o’clock is precisely printed. On the reverse an exhibition case back. Inside an Automatic Oris Cal. 585, the base of ETA 2688, 17 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. The watch comes fitted on its original 20mm Oris polished stainless steel bracelet and comes with an Oris service box.
