The Watch
In 2015, while changing a quartz battery, they were shocked and felt a little short-changed with the lack of a full movement encased in their watch. Oliver & Gordon were inspired to create a much better design, bringing together their experience in a much slower-living counter-culture, and the craftsmanship of a mechanical movement. In a very short amount of time, the Marloe Watch Company was born.
Our Marloe Morar Sands Limited Edition is inspired by the striking coastline from Arisaig to Morar, a beautiful part of Scotland. Limited to 250 pieces. The 40mm stainless steel case is gunmetal plated. The subtle curve of the lugs with a lug to lug length of 47.5mm and a thickness of 12.5mm gives the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, a screw-down crown between chamfer-edged crown guards. The uni-directional bezel has deep knurling for extra grip, the top surface has deep engraving marking the dive minutes. A flat sapphire crystal has an AR coating sitting above a sand textured grey dial. An outer minute chapter ring radiates around the outer edge. The hour markers are shaped like bi-valve shells and coated in Super Luminova. The flat baton minute hand has a blue outline complemented by a lollipop sweeping second hand coated in Super Luminova. Text is finely printed in blue at 12 o’clock with “310” at 6 o’clock signifying the watch's water-resistance of 310m/1006 ft which is in fact the depth of Loch Morar. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with engraved waves and the mysterious Morag, a 30 ft creature which through folklore has inhabited the loch for centuries. Inside an Automatic Miyota 9039, 24 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. This movement has hacking and Parashock anti-shock. The watch comes with a 20mm leather and silicone strap with a signed buckle. Comes with its Marloe presentation box and papers.
Personal Note
This model was unfortunately discontinued as not enough people liked the model and it didn't sell too well, which is a real shame as I think it is such a unique and different dive watch compared to the sea of the same old same old out there... I think people will realise how much watch this was for the money in many years and wish they had picked one up.
