The Watch

Here we have a Like-New 2023 Hermès H08 Titanium Black Automatic with a brushed 38.5mm Black PVD coated Titanium cushion style case. Its straight flanks taper towards the lugs, leading to a lug-to-lug length of 46mm and a case thickness of 10mm to give the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right is a signed crown with deep knurling for grip. A radially-brushed Titanium bezel has polished chamfer edges holding a sapphire crystal AR coated above a grey PVD-coated dynamic dial. Stylised numerals coated with Super-LumiNova surround a satin-brushed black minute disc highlighted with white markers at the hour; at 4.30, we have a colour-matched date window, black background and white numerals. The baton hour hand is filled with Super-LumiNova, and the skeletonised minute hand tipped with lume is complemented by an orange arrow pointed sweeping second hand. At 12 o’clock, the  Hermès Paris motif completes this sophisticated, innovative timepiece. On the reverse, a screwed-down Titanium exhibition case back, inside an automatic Hermès Cal. H1837, 28 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, made for Hermès by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, this double barrel movement is made up of 193 components, and an attractive repeating “H” is engraved across the movement and rotor and has hand winding and hacking seconds for your convenience. It comes paired with its 20mm Hermès black rubber strap and a signed Titanium deployant buckle and comes with its Hermès presentation box and paperwork.

Personal Note

It feels like we are witnessing a revolution within the watch world, with brands like Hermès showing what they can do when they combine their designing might and collaborate with great movement manufacturers to produce something truly impressive. On and off the wrist, the Hermès H08 is an undeniably attractive watch, one worthy of attention. It is powered by the Hermès H1837, which was made for Hermès by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. If you want something a little different to the crowd, then I would highly recommend adding this great watch to your collection today!

The Brand

The luxury brand Hermès was founded in 1837 by Thierry Hermès, who opened a workshop in rue Basse-du-Rempart, Paris, France. Initially selling luxury accessories, equipment and jewellery to the Equestrian world. In 1912, he built his first watch as a present for his son Emile Hermès’ daughter, it wasn’t until 1928 that they produced their first commercial watches with the help of Movado. In 1978, they moved the “La Montre Hermès” “The Hermès Watch” division to Biel, Switzerland. They are part of the prestigious Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie and are still majority family-owned through their holding company H51, and the Arnault family, who own LVMH, owns 20%.
