This watch is sold with its original IWC box and original IWC paperwork. The watch comes paired on its original IWC black leather strap with IWC signed folding buckle. The watch is in worn condition with a few signs of wear, but overall very well looked after, 1 owner from new at retail until now. The case has never been polished or refinished. The watch is running well as you would expect and holding its power-reserve as it should, the watch comes with an 8-year warranty, it was purchased December 2017 and still has approximately 5 years of this manufacture warranty left which will be passed onto the new owner.

The Watch

In 1940 IWC produced 1000 military navigator watches. These oversized “B-Uhr” watches had a distinctive dial and handset with the triangle symbol at 12 o’clock. Typically these watches had a pocket watch movement surrounded by an iron core making it anti-magnetic which are essential in aviation. The movements were hackable and easily set with the large onion crown when wearing gloves. This IWC Big Pilot takes its inspiration from those early pioneers and brings it right up to the present day. At 46mm the stainless steel case has impressive wrist presence. It has a soft-iron core making it anti-magnetic. The brushed and polished surfaces give the wearer an assurance of durability. A large screw-down onion crown sits on the right, providing excellent adjustment for the hands and date. Convex sapphire crystal with double-sided AR coating gives high visibility in all lighting situations. The black dial has large indexes with Arabic numerals indicating the hours. At the 3 o’clock position, we have a 7-day power reserve indicator, which on the original “B-Uhr” would have been the sub-seconds, at 6 o’clock sits the date window. Broad sword hands are complemented by the slim second’s hand making reading the time a breeze. The screw-down case back has a plane nicely engraved, providing 60m water resistance. Inside we have the Automatic IWC Cal. 51111, hacking seconds, 42 Jewels 21,600 Beats per hour and 7-day power reserve. IWC gave this watch a 2-year warranty which was extended by a further 6 years. It comes with 5 years left to run. Fitted on a 22mm black calfskin strap with signed buckle.

Personal Note

This is by no means a small watch and I personally with my 6 3/4inch wrist couldn't pull it off, as much as I wish I could! I absolutely love the design an the history with this watch, for the person who feels comfortable with this size watch and wants this design, this is absolutely perfect and offers a ton of value including the 7-day movement! I am still impressed with the 8-year warranty that IWC extends their regular 2-year warranty too, this is incredible! If you're into pilot watches and love aviation, this is the watch for you...
