The Watch
Maria and Richard Habring founded Habring² in 1997 in Volkermarkt, Austria. Richard Habrings career started as a watchmaker at IWC under the mentorship of Günter Blümlein. He had a major role in the development of the double chronograph. With help from his wife, they are creating watches that continue the remarkable horology of Austria. It all started in 2005 when Habring² set a new standard for seconds accurately jumping. In 2007 they were the first manufacturer to launch a movement with dead beat seconds. They won the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in the category “La Petite Aiguille” in November 2013.
Here we have a Habring² x Timezone Erwin Jumping Seconds TZ21 created to celebrate the 21st Anniversary of TimeZone. TimeZone is the worlds leading resource for watches, founded in 1995 as an online forum of enthusiasts to now having upwards of 13.4 million visitors to their site. The 38mm stainless steel case has polished and brushed surfaces that transition with crisp edges. On the right side is a crown. A stepped polished bezel holds a flat sapphire crystal AR coated on both sides. The grey and silver sector dial is reminiscent of the 1930s sector dial. An outer minute track is precisely executed with Arabic numerals. The inner polished grey ring has Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9 and thin batons all in midnight blue. Finally, the center sector is divided into quadrants with hand-brushed vertical lines. The hands are leaf (feuille) shaped thermally heated blue complemented by a tapered second hand thermally heated blue. On the reverse, we have a screw-down exhibition case with sapphire crystal, engraved around the edge is Habring² X Timezone and the number out of 21 pieces which ours is number 14. Inside a Manually Wound Habring Cal. A11S, 21 jewels. The movement is made up of 126 parts with 65 being serviceable. The balance springs are made to Chronometer standards by the Austrian-based Carl Haas. Decorated by hand with perlage. The watch comes fitted on its original blue calf leather strap with a signed buckle. The watch comes with its Habring² presentation box and papers.
Personal Note
We were fortunate enough to have both the TZ21 & TZ20 at the same time! The TZ20 flew away and now we are honoured to bring you the TZ21, limited to just 21 watches total and a true rarity among an already small production manufacturer like Habring. This really is one of those watches that you'll likely not see again for a VERY long time, so if you've been after one, don't miss this opportunity.
