Points of Mention

This watch is sold as "Watch Only" and therefore comes with no original Caravelle box or original Caravelle paperwork. The watch comes paired on a new brown leather strap which suits the design perfectly. The watch is in worn/vintage condition and does show signs of wear, but overall it is in very good condition for its age, the inner caseback is signed Bulova. There is no known service history but the watch is running fantastic and does come with a 6-month non-waterproof warranty.

The Watch

Caravelle is the sister company of Bulova. Introduced in 1962 they offered the consumer a more affordable line of watches. Whilst giving them choice without devaluing the Bulova brand. This late 1960s Devil Diver 666 has a 35mm stainless steel case with tapering lugs that have a gradual curve which lets it sit on the wrist comfortably. Friction fit rotating bezel has a black insert with batons and numerals at 15, 30 and 45 with a lume pip at 12 o’clock. The domed acrylic crystal sits above a gloss black dial with long batons and numerals at 12, 6 and 9. A date window at 3 o’clock. Broad Arrow and sword hands with white centre seconds hand complete the dial. Written on the dial Automatic, waterproof, 666ft which gives it its Devil name. Screw down case back houses an Automatic ETA 2472. Fitted on a 20mm brown leather strap.

Personal Note

It is incredible how much these devil divers have grown in popularity from many brands but mostly from Caravelle and Bulova, interestingly the connection runs deep on this one with the inner case back being signed Bulova. Such a stunning looking watch, fits great on the wrist at 35mm and is a true charmer. For these into this design, these Devil Divers are the ones!
