Here we have an Autodromo Brian Redman Edition Prototipo Chronograph Limited to 500 pieces, celebrating Brian's victory in the Porsche 908 at the 1969 Nürburgring 1000 km race with his teammate Jo Siffert. He raced some of motorsport's iconic historical cars including Ferrari 312 PB, Alfa Tipo 33, BMW CSL, Ford GT40, Porsche 908 and 917 during his lustrous career. The 42mm brushed and polished tonneau-shaped stainless steel case sits on your wrist like a cushion with stubby tapered lugs, and a lug-to-lug length of 48.5mm and a case thickness of 11mm ensures a comfortable fit. Down the right side, we have the recessed hexagonal piston chronograph pushers and the Autodromo hexagonal crown in the centre. The sapphire crystal sits recessed above a white dial, an outer Tachymeter scale chapter ring has red and white numerals surrounding the white and red minute track highlighted with ⅕ second intervals, perfect for timing that special lap, two screws detailing replicate a cars instrument panel, applied lumed batons mark the hours, at 3 o’clock a 24-hour register, at 6 o’clock a 60-minute register with Brian Redman printed and finally at 9 o’clock the continuous seconds register, each precisely executed, sitting slightly recessed with a concentric circular pattern. Slender baton hands are infilled with SuperLumiNova and complemented by a green tapered chronograph hand, at 12 o’clock we have the Autodromo motif and Prototipo Chronograph printed underneath completing this vintage-inspired historic motorsport chronograph with the same colour scheme as the raced Porsche 908. On the reverse a screwed-down case back with the details of the watch around its edge and the racing laurel wreath surrounding the map of the Nürburgring 1000 km race etched in Brian Redman in the centre, inside a Quartz Seiko Cal. VK63 made by Seiko Instruments. Part of the hybrid mechanical quartz (meca quartz) movement line. It is a chronograph movement that uses quartz technology for the main operation and functions of the watch and a mechanical module for operating the chronograph. It gives you the snapback of a mechanical chronograph and the accuracy of quartz. The watch comes paired with its original 20mm Autodromo leather Racing strap with a signed pin buckle, and this watch is sold with its original Autodromo box, a booklet hand-signed by Brian Redman and paperwork.
