This striking Italian dive timepiece features a 42mm 316L stainless steel case designed in Venice, showcasing the brand's signature sleek, maritime-inspired silhouette. The case features beautifully contrasting satin-brushed surfaces with mirror-polished bevelled highlights, offering a strong lug-to-lug length of 49mm and a wearable thickness of 12mm, ensuring a robust yet elegant presence on the wrist. At 3 o’clock, a signed screw-down crown is protected by crown guards. The standout feature of this specific model is the mesmerising, iridescent, genuine lab-grown opal dial, produced by Kyocera in Japan, which displays a fiery, ever-changing play of colour unique to this individual watch. Whilst I still can’t confidently pronounce Venezianico properly, I’ve now handled quite a few watches from the brand, and they constantly surprise me with just how good they are in the metal and on the wrist. The finishing, proportions, and overall feel always punch well above what you expect, but this opal dial version takes things to another level entirely. The way the dial shifts through different colours depending on the light makes it almost impossible to stop looking at. Venezianico is an Italian watch brand that was established in 2017 by brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morell. The inspiration to create the brand came during their time at Ca' Foscari University in Venice, where they envisioned watches that embodied the essence of their hometown while showcasing their dedication to the art of watchmaking. The brand name, Venezianico, is a combination of “Veneziano” (which translates to “of Venice” or “from Venice”) and the Latin suffix “-ico.” As part of their branding, the brothers selected the golden Renaissance cross atop the Clock Tower in St. Mark's Square as their emblem. This cross serves as a poignant symbol of the passage of time in Venice.
