Description

Here we have a 2026 Chopard Alpine Eagle 41mm Blue Dial, reference 298600-3001. This collection reinterprets the iconic St Moritz watch, originally designed in 1980 by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, who currently serves as co-president of the Chopard maison. The St Moritz was groundbreaking for its blend of sporty elegance and sophisticated design, and this new collection honours that legacy while infusing it with modern touches. It features a 41mm tonneau-shaped Lucent Steel case, a proprietary, high-purity stainless steel alloy that sits comfortably on your wrist thanks to its integrated design. Its robust, symmetrical flanks and signature crown guard create a compact lug-to-lug length of 46.5mm and a remarkably sleek case thickness of just 10mm. On the right side, a screw-down crown is adorned with a compass rose. A prominent vertical-brushed bezel, secured by eight functional indexed screws, holds a sapphire crystal above a stunning textured galvanic Aletsch Blue dial. Inspired by the iris of an eagle, the design captures the wild beauty of the Alps and highlights Chopard's commitment to nature. A clean outer minute track frames applied rhodium-plated Roman numerals and baton indexes, all filled with Super-LumiNova. Elegant, high-visibility rhodium-plated baton hands sit majestically in the centre, completing this contemporary luxury sports timepiece. On the reverse, a sapphire exhibition case back reveals the automatic Chopard Cal. 01.01-C, a chronometer-certified (COSC) movement that beats at 28,800 beats per hour, with bridges decorated in a sophisticated snailed motif, a circular-grained (perlage) mainplate, and a beautifully decorated semi-open rotor. Launched in 2007, Chopard developed, produced, and assembled it entirely at its Fleurier Ébauches facility in Switzerland. It comes with an integrated polished-and-brushed 23.5mm Chopard Lucent Steel bracelet and folding clasp; all links are included. This watch is sold with its original Chopard presentation box and paperwork.

Personal Note

I think Chopard has done a fantastic job with the Alpine Eagle. It's such a great design, with those wonderfully sculpted case lines, beautifully integrated bracelet and classic details that give it a real identity of its own. But for me, the star of the show is that incredible Aletsch Blue dial. The texture is absolutely stunning, and the way it catches the light is something you really need to see in person. Add in those lovely Roman numerals and the distinctive eight-screw bezel, and there's so much to appreciate! This particular example has been worn a handful of times at most, and with a decent chunk off the retail price, I think it represents a seriously tempting opportunity. I would not hesitate to add this watch to your collection today!

About Chopard

Le Petit-Fils de L.-U. Chopard & Cie S.A. is more commonly known as Chopard. It was founded in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard in Sonvilier, Switzerland. Local farmers during the hard winters would assemble watches that would be collected by the master watchmaker. Paul-Louis Chopard opened in 1915 a branch in the nearby town of La-Chaux-de-Fonds. Later in 1937, the company was relocated to the heart of Geneva. Karl-Scheufele III, a goldsmith and watchmaker, owned ESZEHA, making jewellery and watches. He was looking for a Swiss supplier and came to Geneva, where Chopard was last on his list; they immediately got on, and a deal was struck. Germany’s Scheufele family has owned Chopard since 1963. Their clients included Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. In 2010, Chopard joined the Responsible Jewellery Council. The world’s first watch crafted from Fairmined gold was made by Chopard in 2013.
