This special edition combines aviation history with pop-culture charm, paying tribute to the Hawker Hurricane flown by ace pilot Archibald McKellar during the Battle of Britain, while featuring the world’s most famous beagle, Snoopy, in his "Flying Ace" persona. The case features a crown at 10 o’clock for rotating the inner 24-hour ring, a lug-to-lug length of 50mm, and a thickness of 13mm, providing a commanding presence that echoes the cockpit instrumentation of a vintage fighter plane. The multi-layered dial is a masterclass in depth and detail, protected by a mineral crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Drawing inspiration from the Hurricane's dashboard, the dial features a dual-time sub-dial at 6 o’clock where Snoopy, by the iconic cartoonist Schulz, is seen confidently piloting his "Sopwith Camel" (his imaginary doghouse) through the clouds. A date window sits at 3 o’clock, while the textured background and bold applied Arabic numerals ensure excellent legibility. AVI-8 was established following a conversation between watchmakers and aviation historians who aimed to redefine the aviation watch genre. The name "AVI-8" is a phonetic play on the word "aviate" and also references aircraft registrations. Dartmouth Brands is also responsible for other watch brands, such as Spinnaker, Ballast, and Earnshaw. They produce watches in collaboration with Hong Kong watchmaker Solar Time Ltd., which was founded in 1977. Dartmouth Brands is wholly or majority-owned by Notan Tolani, a naturalised British citizen born in 1946 who immigrated to Hong Kong from Pakistan at the age of 22.
