Description

Here is the 2025 Radia Trinity Yellow Sunburst Dial Automatic 38.5mm (Ref. Yellow), named after the first nuclear explosion in history, which occurred on July 16, 1945, as part of a secret research project known as the Manhattan Project. The event took place in a remote area about 210 miles south of Los Alamos, New Mexico, on land known as the Alamogordo Bombing Range. The test was named "Trinity" by J. Robert Oppenheimer, who was the head of the laboratory conducting the research.  A vibrant, high-energy independent tool watch that seamlessly blends contemporary sports-watch aesthetics with a brilliantly expressive colourway. This meticulously executed timepiece from the independent microbrand stands out as a triumph of modern geometry and everyday versatility. The 38.5mm 316L stainless steel case introduces a wonderfully compact, beautifully sculpted architecture that delivers an incredibly balanced, ergonomic, flat wrist presence. With a versatile 12mm case thickness and a highly compressed lug-to-lug of just 46mm, its fluid curves and sharp, angular lines sit comfortably on a wide range of wrist sizes. A signed screw-down crown pairs with a solid screw-down case back to help guarantee a robust 100-metre (10 ATM) water resistance rating. Protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with multiple layers of anti-reflective coating sits the undisputed centrepiece of this reference: a striking yellow sunburst dial. The dynamic canvas delivers a vibrant, high-contrast aesthetic, catching the light to shift effortlessly from bright lemon to deep golden amber. Ditching a traditional date window to favour pure, uncompromised symmetry, the dial cleanly lays out the time with applied geometric indices and a matching architectural handset. The sporty layout uses premium Swiss Super-LumiNova on the hands and markers for exceptional low-light legibility. Beneath the dial lies the premium Japanese automatic Miyota Cal. 9039 movement. A true high-beat workhorse operating at a smooth frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz), this specialised, factory-made true no-date calibre features manual winding capabilities and a stop-seconds hacking device. Its ultra-slim profile allows the watch to maintain its svelte case dimensions while delivering robust daily durability. This exclusive reference comes paired with its original 20mm RADIA suede strap and signed pin buckle. The watch comes complete with its presentation box, clamshell case, and official paperwork.

Personal Note

I always enjoy seeing where independent brands find their inspiration, and I think Radia has gone down a particularly interesting route with the Trinity. Taking its name from the world's first nuclear test in 1945, part of the Manhattan Project, it's certainly not your usual source of inspiration for a watch. But they've taken such a significant moment in history and translated it into something so bold and distinctive. That incredible yellow sunburst dial feels like the perfect choice, with its almost explosive colour that shifts beautifully between bright yellow and golden amber in the light. It's a fascinating bit of history behind a really cool little watch. I would not hesitate to add this watch to your collection today!
