Description

Here we have a 2025 Panerai Luminor Base Logo White, a modern interpretation of the brand's legendary diving heritage featuring a 44mm polished AISI 316L stainless steel cushion-shaped case. A lug-to-lug length of 54.5mm and a case thickness of 13mm provide a commanding and substantial wrist presence, anchored by the iconic patented crown-protecting bridge on the right side. This signature locking lever ensures the crown is pressed firmly against the case, maintaining its robust tool-watch credentials. The flat sapphire crystal sits atop a crisp, minimalist white dial, offering a clean, bright aesthetic that deviates from the traditional black Panerai palette. At 6 o’clock, the "OP" logo (Officine Panerai) sits prominently, while pale grey Arabic numerals and baton indexes mark the hours. For exceptional low-light visibility, the hands and markers are treated with high-performance Super-LumiNova. This "Base" configuration removes the seconds hand and date window entirely, focusing on pure, uncluttered timekeeping. On the reverse is a solid screw-down case back, protecting the in-house manually wound Panerai calibre P.6000, beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, this 19-jewel movement features a single barrel that delivers an impressive 3-day (72-hour) power reserve. This in-house movement replaced the Unitas 6497 and was developed and produced at the Panerai factory in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. It comes paired with its green Panerai 24mm thick rubber strap and signed pin buckle, plus an additional Panerai strap and seven handmade DC straps. This watch is sold with its original Panerai box, swing tag, springbar removal tool and paperwork.

Personal Note

This is the wonderful Panerai Luminor Base Logo, reference PAM01087, in an impressive 44mm case. "Base" configuration removes the seconds hand and date window entirely, focusing on pure, uncluttered timekeeping. The white dial is super crisp and works perfectly with the base configuration, and this example comes with an eye-watering amount of strap options for you to choose from. That is part of the fun of a Panerai like this; it's an absolute strap monster. About Panerai

In 1860, Giovanni Panerai opened his watchmaker's shop in Florence; it wasn't only a shop and workshop but also served as the city's first watchmaking school. Officine Panerai was born. The shop later moved to its current location in the Palazzo Arcivescovile in Piazza San Giovanni, Italy, changing its name to "Orologeria Svizzera" at the beginning of the twentieth century. In 1916, stemming from Marie and Pierre Curie’s 1898 discovery, Officine Panerai created Radiomir, a radium-based powder that gave luminosity to the dials of sighting instruments, to meet the military needs of the Royal Italian Navy. The name "Radiomir" is documented in the patent filed in France on 23 March 1916. The substance's properties are perfect for military applications, with high visibility and the paint's excellent underwater adhesive qualities. In 1936, Panerai created the first prototypes of the model now known as "Radiomir" for the frogman commandos of the First Submarine Group Command of the Royal Italian Navy. The Navy's historical archives record that just ten prototypes were produced in 1936. It was during this time that a very unusual relationship between Rolex and Panerai was forged with the production of the Ref: 2533. The design is based on a 47mm Rolex Oyster pocket watch. That was turned on its side so that the crown would now be located at 3 o’clock. In 1949, Panerai introduced a new luminescent substance called Luminor that was not only safer than radium-based Radiomir but also much more luminous. In 1955, Panerai launched the Luminor, a watch created for the Royal Italian Navy, featuring a crown guard designed in the 1950s by brothers and sister Giuseppe and Maria Giuseppe Panerai. It wasn’t until 1993 that Panerai finally released the Luminor and Luminor Marina to the public. Today, Officine Panerai is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Richemont S.A Group that includes Cartier, IWC, Montblanc, and Vacheron Constantin.
