Description

Here we have the 2025 Herbelin Cap Camarat Automatic Arctic Blue, a refined 39mm 316L stainless steel timepiece that reimagines the classic integrated sports watch through a modern, geometric lens. Drawing inspiration from the sleek lines of French Riviera yachting and named after the iconic headland of Saint-Tropez, this tonneau-shaped case features a brushed finish with six decorative screws on the bezel, echoing the nautical portholes of luxury vessels. The case profile is notably slim at 10.5mm, transitioning into an integrated lug design with a lug-to-lug length of 47mm, ensuring a sleek, aerodynamic silhouette that sits comfortably against the wrist. The focal point is the striking arctic blue dial, protected by a flat sapphire crystal. The dial is defined by horizontal stamped lines that provide depth and texture, reminiscent of a ship's teak decking. This clean layout features faceted baton indices and baton hands, all treated with high-performance luminescent coating for excellent legibility in low-light conditions. A discrete date aperture is positioned at 6 o’clock, maintaining the dial's symmetry, while the "Made in France" signature at the base highlights its heritage from the Jura mountains. Powering this contemporary sport-chic model is the automatic Sellita Calibre SW200-1, a renowned Swiss movement featuring 26 jewels and beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. This reliable workhorse features a hacking seconds mechanism for precise time synchronisation. The watch is completed by an integrated 23.5mm stainless steel bracelet with polished and brushed links, secured by a double-folding butterfly clasp, maintaining its seamless, architectural aesthetic.

Personal Note

This Cap Camarat really sits in that familiar space of being a clear nod to the IWC Ingenieur design language, integrated bracelet, geometric case, and that industrial-sport aesthetic, but in a far more approachable, everyday package. And that’s ultimately where it works. It doesn’t try to compete with the original or pretend to be something it isn’t. Instead, it takes the core design cues and delivers them in a way that’s fun, wearable, and very easy to enjoy without the usual barrier to entry. If that interests you, snap this up and add it to your collection today!

About Herbelin

Founded in 1947 in Charquemont, France, by Michel Herbelin. A family-owned business initially named IMPEC, the brand changed its name to Michel Herbelin in 1965. Some of their popular watch collections include the Newport, inspired by sailing, and the Cap Camarat, which reflects 1970s style. In the 1980s, Michel Herbelin's sons, Jean-Claude and Pierre-Michel, took over the business, and it has recently been rebranded simply as "Herbelin." Today, it is still managed by the founder's family, now in its third generation.
