Representing the brand’s boldest step into dress-focused finishing, "The Twelve 660" reference strips back everything that isn’t essential to deliver a modern interpretation of the 1970s integrated aesthetic. Featuring a 38mm marine-grade 316L stainless steel case, it boasts an incredibly slim profile of just 6.5mm. The architecture is a playground of light, showcasing a complex mix of polishing and linear brushing that accentuates its signature dodecagonal (12-sided) fixed bezel. With a compact lug-to-lug of 43mm and integrated lugs, the watch wraps seamlessly around the wrist, offering an elegant, ergonomic presence. On the right, a deep knurled embossed push-in crown sits against the case sides. Beneath the flat, anti-reflective glass box sapphire crystal lies a minimalist dial featuring a fine-grained, textured finish. Keeping to a purely symmetric design, the dial does away with running seconds or a date window, leaving top-brushed hour indexes and faceted baton hands sitting majestically in the centre. At noon, the applied twin-flag motif completes this sublime timepiece. On the reverse, an exhibition case back reveals the manually wound Sellita Cal. SW210-1 movement. This reliable Swiss workhorse beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and has been beautifully re-engineered with an Elaboré 'Colimaçoné' finish and a custom skeletonised train bridge to maximise visual flair. This has very quickly become my favourite watch in the entire Twelve collection. Christopher Ward has taken everything that made the original so successful and refined it into something that feels genuinely special. The slimmer case, manually wound movement, and perfectly balanced dial give it an elegance that I think really elevates the design. What impresses me most is just how cohesive it feels. The proportions are spot on, the finishing is exceptional for the price point, and at only 6.5mm thick, it wears with the sort of sophistication you'd normally expect from watches costing considerably more. If this is the direction Christopher Ward is taking The Twelve, I'm genuinely excited to see where they go next. Someone snap this watch up before I decide to keep it!

In 2005, Mike France, Peter Ellis, and Christopher Ward embarked on a pioneering venture by founding the world’s first online-only watch brand. Their journey began in an unassuming setting—a converted chicken shed located on a picturesque farm in Berkshire, England. With a vision to revolutionise the watch industry, the trio launched two initial models: the C5 Malvern Automatic and the C3 Malvern Chronograph. Shortly after the brand's debut, a significant turning point came when Dave Malone, a lecturer from Tasmania with a passion for horology, spotted an advertisement featuring their watch powered by an ETA 2824–2 automatic movement. Intrigued by the product, Malone decided to purchase one with the intention of writing a critical review for Timezone.com, one of the world’s largest online watch forums. However, contrary to his original plan, Malone's review turned out to be incredibly favourable, declaring the watch to be the “best value mechanical watch in the world.” This affirmation was a game-changer for Christopher Ward, leading to a substantial surge in sales and solidifying the brand's reputation within the watch community. Recognising the potential for growth and the need for innovation, Christopher Ward sought to enhance their offerings. In 2008, after garnering significant acclaim from industry experts and collectors alike, the company began collaborating with Synergies Horlogères, a Swiss watchmaking firm based in Biel, Switzerland. Owned by Jörg Bader, Synergies Horlogères shared Christopher Ward’s vision for creating intricately designed movements and exceptional timepieces. The collaboration marked the beginning of a rigorous period of research, design, and development. After years of hard work, the fruits of their labour were revealed in 2014 with the introduction of their groundbreaking in-house movement, Calibre SH21. This remarkable achievement was not only notable for being a high-quality mechanical movement but also for being the first innovative and financially viable movement developed by a British watch brand in over half a century. The announcement sent ripples through the watch industry, further establishing Christopher Ward as a formidable player dedicated to redefining the standards of luxury and craftsmanship in horology.
