About Ball

Webster Clay Ball created Ball Watch in 1891 in Cleveland, USA. As the American railroad expanded across the continent, it was agreed that the nation should be divided into 4 time zones to simplify timekeeping. 1883 saw the introduction of Standard Time, and W.C.Ball was the first jeweller to use these new time signals, which brought accurate timekeeping to Cleveland. He created fortnightly inspections of the railroad guards' watches to ensure precise timekeeping.
