Here we have a fun 2024 Studio Underd0g Guacam0le ST1901B released by founder Richard Benc as a humorous reaction to the many copies/ homages hitting the market rather than hitting the numerous Chinese brands with legal action. The Av0Cado and Guacam0le models were offered for only 9 hours on the 8th May and wouldn’t be repeated. Featuring a polished and brushed 38.5mm stainless steel case with elegant tapered curved lugs. Its brushed flanks lead to a lug-to-lug length of 44.5mm and a case thickness of 13mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. We have the signed crown and the polished chronograph pushers on the right side. The bevel-edged stepped polished smooth bezel holds a double-domed sapphire crystal above the striking, characteristic, fun, colourful dial. Made up of 2 layers: a satin sandblasted base layer and a coarse-textured green gradient centre layer that graduates from a pale green in the centre to a darker green outer edge. An outer Tachymetre is precisely printed against the dark green-coloured layer. The hour indices are an attractive applied round black disc; at 3 o’clock, a ‘Big Eye’ 30-minute register made up of varied hues of green-coloured segments and a white hand; at 9 o’clock, the snailed small second register in pale green with a concentric circular pattern. The slender black sword hands are filled with Super-LumiNova C3, complemented by a black chronograph hand. Text is precisely applied with the bold Studio Underd0g motif sitting proudly off-centre, BiCompax 1901 and ‘Assembled in Great Britain’. The combination of colour and textures makes this Bi-Compax a pleasure to wear. On the reverse is a screw-down exhibition sapphire crystal case back, inside a manually wound Seagull ST1901B, 21 jewels, beating at 21,600 beats per hour, column wheel chronograph with a swan neck regulator. Its simplicity in Geneva strips and blued screws decoration adds interest both front and back to this watch. The watch comes fitted on its original 20mm Strap Tailor leather strap and signed pin buckle and comes with its Studio Underd0g presentation box and papers.
