Description

Here we have a 2024 Schofield Light "The Dark One" GMT Limited to 150 pieces, featuring a newly designed field watch housed in a curvaceous 40mm matte-finished black PVD-coated stainless steel case. This is the first time in 15 years that Giles has created a fresh case profile from the bottom up, featuring sweeping curves that lead to a lug-to-lug length of 48mm and a case thickness of 13.5mm, ensuring a comfortable fit. At 4 o’clock, we have a prominent stepped screw-down signed crown with deep knurling, sitting slightly recessed into the case. A smooth, vertically brushed bezel holds a box-shaped sapphire crystal above a black-and-grey stepped dial. The raised black ring has highly legible numerals and a new slashed zero; the pale grey hands are lacquered for a 3D effect, filled with Super-LumiNova C3 and complemented by a grey-tipped sweeping second hand; a grey GMT hand matches the lower grey level, tipped with a grey lollipop. At 4 o’clock, text in a colouring matching font “Schofield Light GMT- Type A Sussex England”, and at 9 o’clock, the Schofield motif completes this versatile adventurer travelling companion. The screw-down case back lighthouse design is printed on the inside of a mineral crystal. Transparent elements reveal the shiny metallic movement underneath, catching the light, an automatic Seiko Cal. NH34A, 24 jewels, beating at 21,600 beats per hour, to adjust the GMT hand, pull the crown out one position and turn clockwise. It comes paired with two quick-release 22mm Schofield straps and a signed buckle. The watch comes with its Schofield presentation box and paperwork.

I was actually torn initially on which one to choose, and in an ideal world, I'd keep this and have both. About Schofield

Giles Ellis made a grand debut of his brand, Schofield at the Salon QP event held in London back in 2011. The brand's headquarters are located in Sussex, which is a picturesque county situated on the south coast of the UK, just a short distance from Brighton. Ellis, a visionary watchmaker, has been instrumental in the revival of British watchmaking, which has gained significant momentum in recent years. His brand, Schofield, reflects his passion for traditional craftsmanship and is highly regarded for its precision, quality, and innovative designs. In the initial models, such as the Signalman GMT PR and its DLC variant, the brand established its identity with a combination of high-quality materials, reliable Swiss movements, and a touch of British flair. The Patinated Bronze Beater B3 demonstrated the brand's willingness to explore unique materials and finishes. In 2024, after maintaining the same core case design for almost 15 years, Schofield surprised the watch world with the Light. This new model represented a significant departure, featuring a smaller 40mm case size while staying true to the brand's commitment to functionality and meticulous construction. The Light offered a fresh interpretation of the classic field watch, incorporating subtle military influences and prioritising wearability. With the introduction of the Light, Schofield indicated its intention to expand its appeal while remaining steadfast to its fundamental principles. The brand continues to innovate, utilising high-grade materials and movements to produce enduring timepieces designed to endure the test of time.
