There’s a lot going on here, the textured dial, Damascus steel case and substantial proportions, but somehow it all comes together brilliantly. On or off the wrist, it feels like a proper solid piece of kit. What really stands out to me is the Damascus steel itself. This has to be one of the most defined and pronounced examples I’ve seen, with those broad, dramatic patterns rather than the incredibly tight layers and countless folds you often find. The brand's history began in February 2023 when Rob McQuaide received a basic watch assembly kit for his 30th birthday. Fascinated by the internal mechanics of watches, he began by building a Panerai Radiomir homage using parts sourced online and an ETA movement. Driven by a desire to create something entirely original, Rob became captivated by Damascus Steel—a material with over 2,000 years of history originally used by Eastern swordsmiths. To deepen his understanding of this material, he visited a master blacksmith at Boneyard London, where he learned to forge layers of high-carbon steel firsthand. This experience led to a lengthy collaboration with suppliers from Switzerland and the Far East to engineer a high-spec Damascus Steel watch case. The brand utilises a combination of crowdfunding to launch its series and precise local assembly. All McQuaide timepieces are assembled in Berkshire, UK, by Horologium, a highly regarded British watch service centre.
