Here we have a 2024 Eterna Kontiki Bronze Diver Blue Limited Edition of 120/300 pieces. It takes its inspiration from Eterna's 1970s Kontiki dive watch, which was named after the raft used in the 1947 KonTiki expedition of Thor Heyerdahl and his crew, the incredible crossing of the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands on a raft made of balsa wood; it took 101 days over 6,900 km (4,300 miles). The 44mm brushed bronze case curves over your wrist, featuring thick, tapered chamfered lugs. Its flowing flanks lead to a lug-to-lug length of 52mm and a case thickness of 14mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, a signed crown with deep knurling for extra grip. The uni-directional bezel features deep knurling, and a matte blue ceramic insert featuring a US Navy “No Decompression Limits” scale countdown that refers to the maximum time a diver can spend at a given depth without needing mandatory decompression stops during ascent, with a bronze inverted triangle at 12 o’clock and large numerals cut into the ceramic and filled with lume, set against a domed sapphire crystal AR-coated, above a blue textured dial, Eterna calls ‘granite-patterned’. An outer minute track features applied bronze-framed triangle and tooth-shaped hourly markers filled with Super-LumiNova. Elegant bronze-framed dauphine hands, also filled with Super-LumiNova, are complemented by a spear-shaped counterweighted sweeping second hand. At noon, we have the Eterna motif, and at 6 o’clock, "KonTiki Diver 200m" completes this adventurer's dive watch. On the reverse, a screw-down exhibition stainless steel case back with the details of the watch around its edge, inside an automatic Eterna Cal. EMC 3902A, 30 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes paired with its thick, 22mm Eterna vintage-style leather strap, featuring a signed bronze pin buckle. It also includes its Eterna presentation box, swing tag, and paperwork.

Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Eterna box, swing tag and Eterna paperwork. The watch comes paired with its 22mm vintage-style Eterna leather strap with a signed bronze pin buckle. The watch is from February 2024 and is sold in worn condition, but overall it is in very fair condition, as you can see from the photos. Do keep in mind that bronze develops a patina and oxidises. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

Personal Note

If you are in the market for a well-built, beautifully designed large bronze diver that won't break the bank, I'd say look no further, you've found it with this Eterna KonTiki Manufacturer Bronze 44mm! It demands attention on the wrist with the tone of bronze, the texture of the dial, the boldness of the indices and the overall heft; it is incredible. About Eterna

Eterna was founded in Grenchen, Switzerland, in 1856 by Josef Girard and Urs Schild and jointly founded the famous ébauche factory. The company was formerly known as Schild Fréres, starting out by producing ladies’ wristwatches. In 1905, the company changed its name to Eterna. In 1932, Eterna set up a subsidiary company, ETA SA, which made movements for itself and other Swiss watch companies. In 1948, Eterna created the Eterna-Matic automatic, an advanced self-winding movement. Five ball bearings were placed in such a way as to make the movement very efficient. In 1948, Eterna used the five-ball arrangement as its corporate logo. In 1999, Eterna produced a series of watches marketed under the Porsche Design label. Porsche Design sold Eterna to International Volant Ltd, a subsidiary of China Haidian, in June 2012. China Haidian was later renamed in 2014 to Citychamp Watch & Jewellery Group Limited, where they continue to own Eterna.
