Here we have a 2024 Doxa SUB 1500T Professional Orange paying tribute to their 1968 SUB 300T Conquistador, which was the first publicly available dive watch with a Helium escape valve and patented bezel. The 45mm C-shaped 316L stainless steel case sits on the wrist like a cushion. This case was designed and developed in 1968 by Urs Eschle, who was the product manager and his team, polished sides and brushed top surfaces transitioned with crisp edges towards the stubby lugs. A lug-to-lug length of 47mm and a case thickness of 16mm give the watch an impressive presence on the wrist. At 3 o’clock a screw-down crown that fits recessed into the side of the case for protection and is signed with an orange DOXA fish, on the left side at 9 o’clock we have the integrated Helium escape valve, the patented unidirectional bezel has the U.S. Navy No Decompression scales, with an outer depth scale in feet in orange and the minute scale in black, to allow divers to gauge how much air was left in their tanks. The boxed sapphire crystal sits above the iconic orange dial, and large double baton indexes with SuperLumiNova down their centres mark the hours. At 3 o’clock, a framed date window, featuring a small black hour hand and a larger black minute hand, is complemented by a black second hand with a black square counterweight filled with SuperLumiNova. This colour combination is highly visible when diving. A crosshair on the dial features text on the upper left side, with “DOXA” and “automatic” printed, and on the lower right side, “SUB 1500T” and “Professional”. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with the details of the watch engraved around its edge and the DOXA motif on top of waves in bas-relief in the centre, inside a Swiss automatic movement. It comes paired with its 20mm 316L stainless steel 5-link bracelet, featuring brushed and polished finishing, secured with screws. The watch also has a push-button release folding signed deployant clasp with a dive extension. Additionally, it includes a Doxa presentation box, swing tag, and papers.
