Here we have a contemporary re-edition 2024 Certina DS PH200M Automatic Black C036.407.11.050.01 with a 43mm stainless steel case that curves over your wrist thanks to the tapered lugs, and a lug-to-lug length of 51.5mm and a case thickness of 12mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, a signed screw-down crown with deep knurling. The unidirectional stainless steel bezel has a convex ceramic insert with the engraved 60-minute scale in aged Super-LumiNova, resembling the Bakelite inserts found on the original. The sapphire crystal AR coated sits above a black crosshair dial.  An outer minute track surrounds baton indexes coated in Super-LumiNova marking the hours; at 3 o’clock, a framed date window and gold-toned sword hands are filled with lume and complemented by a white arrow pointed sweeping second hand; at noon, we have the Certina motif “Automatic” printed underneath and at 6 o’clock “DS PH200M” completes this vintage-inspired dive sports watch. On the reverse, a screw-down exhibition case back with the details engraved around the edge, inside an automatic Powermatic Cal. 80.611, 25 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour, based on the ETA 2824-2 architecture with hand winding and hacking seconds. The watch comes paired with its 20mm Milanese Mesh stainless steel bracelet secured by a concealed push button butterfly clasp. It comes with its Certina presentation box, unsigned paperwork, and unsigned warranty card.

Modern Certina has been smashing it out of the park with their recent releases and this DS PH200M is no exception. Certina was founded in 1888 by Adolf and Alfred Kurth in Grenchen, Switzerland. Where they made movements and supplies for the watch industry; shortly afterwards, they started making their own watches and grew their workforce from 3 to 250 in 1938 when they celebrated their 50th Anniversary. By 1955, they had 500 employees and produced 1000 watches a day. This expansion continued in 1971 when they were producing 600,000 watches every year with a workforce of 900. In 1983, Certina became a member of the Swatch group, and they continue to this day.
