Description

Here we have the 2024 Alpina Alpiner Heritage Carrée Auto AL-530SAC3C6, part of their Heritage collection, celebrating the 140th Anniversary of the brand. Inspired by their creative 1930s ‘Alpina 4’ sports watch, which incorporated Gottlieb Hauser's philosophy of four key attributes of a sports watch: stainless steel, water resistance, anti-magnetic properties, and anti-shock resistance. It features a polished 32.5mm rectangular stainless steel case that sits comfortably on your wrist, thanks to the angled and rounded lugs. The sculpted flanks take us back to the time of streamlined steam trains and sleek motor vehicles. A coin-edge crown on the right side sits between the sculpted flanks. Its sapphire crystal fits perfectly between the polished, smooth bezel, showcasing the Art Deco style two-tone silver and cream dial. A minute rail track surrounds the cream rectangle with Arabic numerals printed in black, marking the hours. Elegant leaf hands sit majestically in the centre above a rectangular sub dial. At noon, the Alpina motif completes this vintage-inspired sports watch. On the reverse, a screwed-down sapphire exhibition case back engraved with the details of the watch around its edge, inside an automatic Alpina Cal. AL530 (Sellita SW261), 31 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour. This quality movement features a modified signed rotor, hacking seconds, and hand-winding for your convenience. It comes paired with its 22mm Alpiner leather strap and signed pin buckle. This watch is sold with its original Alpina box, swing tag and paperwork.

Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original Alpina box, swing tag and paperwork. It comes paired with its original Alpina 22mm leather strap with a signed pin buckle. Personal Note

This Alpina has to be one of my favourite watches they have released in a long time. This is the Alpina Alpiner Heritage Carrée automatic made to celebrate 140 Years of Alpina. Cased in a larger 32.5mm by 46.5mm, it wears great on the wrist, and the design is so clearly inspired by watches of the past. If you are in the market for a modern 'Tank' watch, I would highly recommend considering this one for your collection!

About Alpina

Gottlieb Hauser's story begins in 1883 as an independent watchmaker in Switzerland. His idea was to create a union of members, all being fellow watchmakers in Switzerland, who could then share parts, materials and ideas together. This collective was called the “Alpina Swiss Watchmakers Corporation” and they became known as the “Alpinists”. Inspired by one of the highest summits in Europe, the Matterhorn mountains in Switzerland gave rise to the Alpina Watch logo. The trademark “Alpina” was registered in 1901, they celebrated its 25th Anniversary, and the Alpina motif can be seen for the first time on their high-end calibres and watches created by Gottlieb Hauser. In 1913, Alpina watches became the preferred supplier of Chronometers for the German Navy, which grew to over 810,000 personnel at its peak in 1944. In 1921, the Alpina watches became a renowned manufacturer and supplier of time instruments for military pilots, and they started manufacturing the legendary pilot’s legs watch. In 1926, Alpina watches introduced the international watch guarantee and became the first watch brand to do so. Seiko released the world's first commercial quartz wristwatch in 1969, and the infamous ‘Quartz Crisis’ began. Reducing the company to sell only to the Swiss and German markets. Frederique Constant bought Alpina, allowing them to carry on their production from their factory. In 2016, Citizen Watch Co., Ltd bought the Frédérique Constant Group. Citizen Group continued to grow its brand acquisitions, already owning Bulova as well as Swiss movement manufacturer La Joux-Perret SA which included Arnold & Son under La Joux-Perret.
