2023 Vero Smokey Bear "The Smokey '44" Automatic 38mm

Here we have a 2023 Vero Smokey Bear "The Smokey '44" Automatic, taking its design cues from the “Dirty Dozen” military field watches of World War Two with a 38mm satin finished stainless steel round case that curves over your wrist with tapered lugs. A lug-to-lug length of 46mm and a case thickness of 12mm ensures a comfortable fit on your wrist.  On the right side, a deep-knurled polished crown with a tree symbol brushed cap. The polished smooth bezel holds a domed sapphire crystal above a dark brown grain textured dial. An outer minute rail track with lume pips at the hour surrounding large white Arabic 12-hour numerals above smaller red 24-hour numerals marking the hours, steel spade and syringe hands filled with Super-LumiNova are complemented by a white-tipped seconds hand, at noon we have Smokey Bear, a character created in 1944 to help prevent forest fires, “Only You” is the slogan used at that time, at 6 o’clock a stylised tree representing the forest. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with the details around the edge and “If It's Too Hot To It’s Too Hot To Leave” “Only You can prevent wildfires” in the centre, inside an automatic Seiko Cal. NH38A, 24 jewels, beating at 21,600 beats per hour, this workhorse movement has hand winding and hacking seconds for your convenience. The watch comes paired with a 20mm quick-release vintage-style leather strap and pin buckle, plus a 20mm NATO strap and satin-finished hardware. It also comes with its Vero “Smokey Bear” presentation box and paperwork.
