Here we have a 2023 Tudor Ranger Automatic on a Bracelet 79950, which is an update to their 2014 reference 79910. The Ranger watches were Tudor's version of the Rolex Explorer. When launched, it celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the British North Greenland expedition in 2022, a two-year scientific mission studying ice sheets. Featuring a 39mm satin-brushed 316L stainless steel case that curves over your wrist, with chamfered edges and tapered lugs, its curvaceous flanks lead to a lug-to-lug length of 48mm and a case thickness of 12.5mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, a screw-down crown with the Tudor Rose in relief in the centre. Brushed and polished surfaces transition with crisp edges. A satin-brushed, smooth bezel holds a domed AR-coated sapphire crystal above a matte black dial with a fine-grain texture. An outer minute track is precisely printed with Arabic 12, 3, 6, and 9, and baton indexes marking the hours coated in a beige Super-LumiNova for that vintage aesthetic. The arrow and sword hands are complemented by a red-tipped sweeping second hand. At noon, we have the Tudor motif, and at 6 o’clock, “Ranger” completes this historical tool watch, modernised and reimagined. On the reverse, a coin-edged screw-down case back, featuring an in-house MT5402 (COSC) Certified movement with 27 jewels and 28,800 beats per hour. A bi-directional rotor and Antimagnetic silicon hairspring provide a robust and accurate movement first introduced in 2018, and are also found in their Black Bay 58. It comes paired with its Tudor 20mm three-link brushed stainless steel bracelet, featuring the Tudor “T-fit” safety catch quick-adjustment system and a signed folding clasp; all links are included. It also includes a Tudor presentation box, swing tag and paperwork.
