Description

Here we have a fun 2023 Spinnaker x Seconde Seconde '50 Phantoms' limited edition of 670 pieces, which is a funny nod to the Blancpain 50 Fathoms dive watch, which celebrates its 70th Anniversary, designed by Seconde Seconde, which is the artistic pseudonym of French artist Romaric André, who is known for his playful and humorous modifications of classic timepieces. The 42mm brushed stainless steel curves over your wrist with tapered lugs. A polished chamfered edge leads the eye towards a lug-to-lug length of 51mm and a case thickness of 12.5mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, an onion-style crown. A unidirectional bezel features deep knurling for grip and a black insert with a lumed 60-minute scale protected by glass. The domed sapphire crystal sits above a textured black dial filled with randomly placed ‘50 Phantoms’ coated in Super-LumiNova. An outer minute track surrounds the applied diamond, and disc-shaped indexes filled with Super-LumiNova mark the hours. Cathedral hands are filled with the same lume, complemented by a red arrow-tipped sweeping second hand. At noon, we have the Spinnaker motif and ‘50 Phantoms’ in the same font as the Blancpain, at 6 o’clock, ‘No Feet’, where the depth resistance would typically go, is a fun reference to the fact ghosts have no feet. On the reverse, a screw-down exhibition case back is engraved with the details of the watch around its edge. Inside an automatic Seiko Cal. NH38, 24 jewels, beating at 21,600 beats per hour, the modified rotor has a phantom on it. This workhorse movement features hand-winding and hacking seconds for your convenience.  It comes paired with two 22mm Spinnaker straps in the box. This watch is sold with its original Spinnaker x Seconde Seconde box and paperwork.
