The Watch

Here we have a 2023 Sinn 103 St Classic C Limited Edition 31/200 pieces, this was an exclusive limited edition for Chronos Magazine, which has been providing its audience with a glimpse into the world of luxury in fashion, automobiles, and watches since 1992. The 41mm polished stainless steel case has a very comfortable lug-to-lug length of 47.5mm and a case thickness of 15.5mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. Down the right side, we have the chronograph pushers, a signed screw-down crown protected by shoulders, and a bi-directional Pilots bezel made of matte black anodised aluminium 12-hour countdown scale. A vintage-inspired shock-resistant domed Acrylic glass protects a silver electroplated “Panda dial, an outer minute track precisely executed with applied hourly Rhodium-plated baton markers coated in Super LumiNova, and the Tri-compax consists of a 30-minute, 12-Hour and finally a small second at 9 o’clock. Slender baton hands are filled with Super-LumiNova complemented by a tapered chronograph hand, and at 12 o’clock, we have the Sinn motif complete this highly legible pilot's chronograph watch. On the reverse, we have a screw-down case back engraved with the details of the watch, inside an automatic Sellita SW 510, 27 jewels, and beating at 28,800 beats per hour. The watch comes paired with a Sinn 20mm black leather strap with a signed pin buckle, and the watch comes with its Sinn presentation box and paperwork.

The Brand

In 1961, the pilot and flight instructor Helmet Sinn founded the Sinn watch company in Frankfurt am Main. Principally making watches that gave the user maximum functionality at a reasonable price. His Pilot watches became popular with his fellow pilots as they appreciated their build quality and precision. In 1985, Professor Dr Reinhard Furrer, a German physicist, can be seen wearing the 140 S model on his wrist during the D-1 space lab mission. They continued their exploration of space with the 142 S in 1992. This watch was worn by Dietrich Flade during the Mir-92 mission. Later, in 1993, the 142 space chronograph went on the second German Spacelab mission, the D-2. The mission was in space for ten days, orbiting the Earth 160 times whilst onboard the NASA Space Shuttle, Colombia. Sinn was bought by Lothar Schmidt, an engineer, in 1994, renaming the company ‘Sinn Spezialuhren GmbH’. Over the years, Schmidt used his engineering background to develop Ar-dehumidifying technology, which is resistant to temperature. In 2011, they celebrated their 50th anniversary.
