Linde Werdelin was founded in 2002 by Danes Morten Linde and Jorn Werdelin. The brand is recognised for creating luxury mechanical watches that can be attached to digital sports devices. The concept for the brand originated in 1996 when Jorn Werdelin experienced a serious skiing accident off-piste. This event inspired him to find a high-quality sports watch that could work with advanced mountain and diving equipment. Following five years of research and development, the brand introduced its first watches: the Biformeter Elemental and Biformeter Two Timer. These timepieces had a special case designed to connect with a unique digital device called the "Land Instrument" or "The Rock." This feature enabled users to access important functions like a compass, altimeter, and barometer. Linde Werdelin has consistently pushed the limits of materials used in watch casings. They were among the first to use lightweight 3D-printed thin-ply carbon (3DTP) and premium ceramics. In 2015, the brand's engineering skills were acknowledged when the Danish Frogman Corps ordered a custom version of the Oktopus watch for their highly trained divers.
