The Watch
Here we have a 2023 H.Moser & Cie Pioneer Centre Seconds Arctic Blue with a 40mm high polished stainless steel case that gently flows over your wrist with thick tapered lugs. The scalloped flanks have an attractive ribbed pattern for a sporty aesthetic, leading to a lug-to-lug length of 47.5mm and a case thickness of 11.5mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side is a signed crown, and the stepped smooth bezel holds a domed sapphire crystal above the incredible Artic blue fumé dial. An outer chapter ring has lume pips at the hour surrounding applied steel facet indexes marking the hours, attractive polished skeletonised hands filled with SuperLumiNova are complemented by a sweeping tapered second hand; at 12 o’clock, we have the engraved Moser & Cie motif completes this visually inspiring minimalist dress watch. On the reverse, a screwed-down exhibition case back showcasing the in-house automatic HMC Cal. 200, 27 jewels, beating at 21,600 beats per hour, a bidirectional skeletonised rotor engraved with H.Moser & Cie and the movement is tastefully decorated in Moser double stripes. It comes paired with its short 20mm H.Moser & Cie Rubber strap with a signed polished pin buckle, and the watch comes with its H.Moser & Cie presentation box, swing tags and paperwork.

When we think of H.Moser & Cie we inevitably think of incredible dial work and this Pioneer Centre Seconds Arctic Blue is the perfect example of that. This reference 3200-1217 comes in a fantastic 40mm case that works perfectly on the wrist and is powered by the automatic HMC calibre 200 which is impeccably finished and provides beauty on both sides. Picking up this model from August 2023 will save you a huge chunk on the original RRP, so treat yourself today with some money left over!
The Brand
Heinrich Moser, born in Schaffhausen, founded H. Moser & Cie. in 1828. As a young entrepreneur, he quickly learnt about the watchmaking profession. He found himself in St. Petersburg and soon became “the specialist” for its aristocracy. They built a factory employing several hundred craftspeople in Switzerland. He produced around 500,000 watches during his lifetime. The watches ranged from three-hand watches to incredible “Grande complications”. Heinrich was passionate and deeply involved in the industrialisation of Schaffhausen, including the building of the first Swiss dam, which featured an innovative hydro-mechanical turbine to produce energy for the machinery used in watch production. Due to the “quartz crisis,” they became a part of the Dixi Mechanique Group. Their original brand name was changed, becoming "Hy Moser & Cie". In 2002, Dr Jürgen Lange and Heinrich Moser's great-grandson Roger Nicholas Balsiger founded Moser Schaffhausen AG. In 2005, they built a new factory in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and H. Moser & Cie's trademark was formally re-launched. The MELB Holding Group is owned by H. Moser & Cie, CEO, the former boss at Audemars Piguet, Georges-Henri Meylan. They have been based in Le Brassus in Switzerland, since 2012.
