Description

Here we have a 2023 Certina DS Super PH1000M Limited Edition Orange 43.5mm (Ref. C024.907.17.281.10A). Limited to just 1,000 pieces worldwide. This watch's design draws inspiration from a historical 1970 Certina masterpiece that famously proved its mettle during the Tektite II underwater habitat program, reviving an era of extreme deep-sea exploration. The 43.5mm stainless steel case curves over your wrist, showcasing a radical, retro-futuristic barrel-shaped profile. A remarkably compact lug-to-lug length of 47.5mm, paired with a case thickness of 14mm, ensures this heavy-duty dive instrument wears surprisingly flat, balanced, and comfortable on the wrist. Brushed and polished surfaces transition with sharp, industrial lines. Down the left side, an integrated helium escape valve prepares the watch for saturation diving, while a secure, signed screw-down crown sits protected on the right. The characteristic unidirectional rotating bezel features a black ring with a raised, knurled edge and a safety push-to-turn mechanism that prevents accidental rotation underwater. The flat sapphire crystal, scratch-resistant and treated with an anti-reflective coating on one side, is set above a vibrant, high-vis orange dial that ensures maximum legibility in low-light oceanic depths. An outer minute track is precisely marked, complemented by blocky, applied indexes heavily filled with Super-LumiNova to mark the hours. At 3 o’clock, a neat date window adds everyday convenience. The central handset features Certina's signature oversized diving layout, utilising a broad arrow hour hand, a prominent orange minute hand, and a square-tipped sweeping seconds hand—all fully luminescent. At noon, the classic Certina motif sits proudly alongside the "DS" (Double Security) insignia. On the reverse, a solid screw-down stainless steel case back secures the inner assembly against crushing underwater pressures, boasting an extraordinary professional depth rating of 1,000 metres (100 bar). Inside beats the Automatic Powermatic Cal. 80.611, a robust Swiss movement operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour across 25 jewels. This modern calibre features a Nivachron anti-magnetic hairspring for enhanced reliability and delivers a massive 80-hour power reserve. The watch comes paired with two 20mm straps with signed pin buckles. The watch comes complete with its original Certina pelican-style presentation box, paperwork and extras.

Points of Mention

This watch comes with its original Certina Pelican-style presentation box, paperwork, and extras. The watch comes paired with two 20mm straps with signed pin buckles. The watch is from December 2023 and is sold in used condition, but overall it is in very fair condition, as you can see from the photos. It comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

Personal Note

This is exactly the sort of watch Certina should be making more of, packed with genuine history, wonderfully over-engineered and offering an incredible amount of watch for the money. The bright orange dial and unmistakably 1970s case give it bags of character, but underneath the fun design is a seriously capable 1,000-metre dive watch with a helium escape valve, safety bezel and Powermatic 80 movement. Limited to only 1,000 pieces and with that fascinating Tektite II connection behind the original, it’s a brilliant example of Certina digging into its archives and doing a re-edition properly. Snap up this brilliant watch and add it to your collection today!
