The Watch

Here we have 2023 Brew Metric Automatic Limited to 500 with a 36mm square cushion case, polished and brushed surfaces transition with crisp edges, the case flows over your wrist towards the integrated bracelet, the soft rounded edges remind us of the watches of the 1970s, and a lug-to-lug length of 42mm and a case thickness of 11.5mm ensures a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side, we have the signed crown. The bevel-edged stepped smooth bezel holds a flat sapphire crystal above a black 70s-inspired dial, and a sloping outer chapter ring has the printed 60-minute scale surrounding a precisely executed minute track with faceted double baton indexes, lume on the inner edge and orange accents on their outer edge marking the hours. The long baton hands are filled with lume complemented by an orange lollipop sweeping second hand. The “time only” aspect of the watch is a refreshing departure for Brew and yet it still retains its signature design. At noon we have a debossed Brew logo, at 6 o’clock “Automatic”. On the reverse, a screwed-down case back with an open heart that captures the beat of the movement and the details of the watch including its number out of 500, inside an automatic Seiko Cal. NH35A, 24 jewels, beating at 21,600 beats per hour, this workhorse movement has hand winding and hacking seconds for your convenience. The watch comes paired with its quick-release Brew 19mm integrated stainless steel bracelet with brushed and polished edges and a signed push-button release folding clasp, and the watch comes with its Brew presentation box, travel case and papers.

Personal Note

If you know me, you will know that I love 70s design in watches and Brew has taken those design elements and brought them into the modern world of watches beautifully. This is perfectly represented here with this Brew Metric Automatic, limited to just 500 pieces total. The bracelet on this is a real highlight for me having owned multiple Zeniths and Movados with this exact same bracelet and design, it works beautifully with the case shape and adds to the overall 70s funk!

The Brand

Founded in 2015 by Jonathan Ferrer in New York City. He studied industrial design at the New Jersey Institute of Technology where he is an adjunct professor. Setting out across the world to find the best suppliers and craftspeople, he has spent 8 years in the watch industry. Designed and inspired by enjoyable moments in time while taking a coffee break. Taking the industrial design of an Espresso machine and capturing the rich colours and textures of the whole experience encapsulated perfectly in their Brew collection timepieces.
