The Watch

Here we have a 2023 Bremont Supernova Midnight Blue Automatic, their first flowing integrated bracelet design incorporating their in-house Bremont ENG375 movement. The curvaceous 40mm polished and brushed case introduces the new Trip-Tick case, a refinement to their classic three-piece design with a DLC-treated case barrel, hardened bezel and their patented Anti-shock mount for their movement. The flowing lines lead to a lug-to-lug length of 53mm and a case thickness of 11mm giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side a screw-down crown with a polished enamelled Bremont logo and protected by crown guards. The hardened bezel has soft corners and an attractive combination of polishing and brushing holding a flat AR-coated sapphire crystal above the midnight blue sector-style dial. A minute chapter ring coated in SuperLumiNova surround applied nickel plated baton indexes infilled with SuperLumiNova marking the hours, at 3 o’clock a double date window. The raised centre disc has the nickel-plated sword hands infilled with SuperLumiNova complemented by a red-tipped tapered sweeping second hand, at 6 o’clock we have the nickel-plated power reserve, at 12 o’clock you have the Bremont motif completing this distinctive and versatile timepiece. On the reverse a screwed-down exhibition case back showcasing the spectacular in-house Automatic Bremont Cal. 11 1/2’’’ ENG375, 22 jewels, beating at 25,200 beats per hour. Decorated in Rhodium and Gold plating, they use modern materials such as a Silicon escape wheel and a skeletonised Gold Plated rotor, the movement has been tested to Bremonts H1 Timing standard, which is comparable to ISO 3159:2009 Chronometer standards. Bremont pays homage in the name of Harrison's H1 marine timing device used to solve the nautical traveller's issue of measuring longitude at sea. The watch comes paired with its integrated Bremont brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet with a butterfly deployment clasp opened by the Bremont logo, all links provided. The watch comes with its Bremont presentation box, travel case, H1 Timing Certificate and paperwork.

Personal Note

There is no denying that Bremont's are large watches, but I'm always amazed by how well they wear on the wrist and this new model was certainly a surprise too! The shape of the case sits on the wrist comfortably. Everyone knows I love an integrated bracelet and this is Bremont's first flowing integrated bracelet, at first on photos I wasn't impressed, though in person I can see the appeal for those who love it and I can see why its not quite the watch for some... This is one well worth making a trip to the office to see in the metal and on your wrist!

The Brand

Bremont was founded in 2002 by the brothers Nick and Giles English. Their watch designs are inspired by their love of flying and everything mechanical. During the 1990s while flying their 1930s biplane over France they got into trouble and had to land in a field. Not wishing to get the authorities involved, they were met by the farm owner who gave them and the plane shelter, it turned out he had flown during the war and was an engineer. The brothers, grateful to the kind farmer, promised him they would never forget him, his name was Antoine Bremont. In 1995 they were involved in an accident and sadly lost their father Dr Euan English while flying their World War II-vintage Harvard aircraft. His loss and their injuries drove the brothers to create a fitting legacy. Moving into their Manufacturing & Technology Centre in 2021. Innovation and producing technologically advanced timepieces has been an ever-expanding experience for Bremont. Their military connections through special edition watches and tireless work with Help for Heroes and The Royal British Legion means their late fathers' legacy will continue to grow.
