Here we have the futuristic 2023 Accutron DNA Electrostatic 45mm Black 2ES8A002, a modern interpretation of their iconic Spaceview watch of the 1960s, which was initially created as a sales tool; the open-face dial showcased the innovative Tuning Fork movement. Bulova released the watch after pressure from the public and sold an incredible four million of them. This distinctive timepiece features a 45mm stainless steel case with a two-tone Rose Gold PVD and black PVD coating that comfortably flows over your wrist thanks to the screwed integrated black rubber strap. The stepped curved flanks lead to a lug-to-lug length of 52mm and a case thickness of 15mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, a Rose Gold PVD-coated deep knurled signed push/pull crown. A high-domed sapphire crystal completely covers the distinctive skeletonised dial, showing the inner workings of this well-engineered movement. The outer black minute chapter ring features applied Rose Gold PVD-coated indexes filled with lume marking the hours. A lower brushed stainless steel framework secures two small stainless steel and black PVD coated rings housing the moving electrostatic turbine generators for the movement and a larger electrostatic turbine at 10 o’clock which magically moves with the seconds hand when fully charged and then remains motionless until you swing your arm a few times to get things moving again, adding a unique perspective into this incredible movement, elegant Rose Gold PVD-coated  Dauphine hands have a strip of lume down the centre and complemented by a smooth sweeping white tuning fork counterweighted second hand, at 3 o’clock we have the Accutron motif. On the reverse, a turbine design solid case back with the details of the watch engraved around its edge and an embossed Accutron motif in the centre. Inside an Accutron ElectroStatic Cal. NS30, a quartz resonator with dual stepper motor and an innovative electrostatic drive system for the hands, the movement's energy is captured, controlled, and stored in a battery before being sent out to power the watch. It uses a special capacitor that operates two different motors: one that moves the seconds hand and another that moves the hour and minute hands. Thanks to this innovative design, the second hand glides smoothly around the watch face, powered by the world's first electrostatic motor. It comes paired with its screwed-in 26mm integrated black rubber strap secured by a rose gold PVD-coated push-button deployant clasp. When you unscrew the strap, the case shoulders come apart, making it a breeze to swap straps. This watch is sold with its original Accutron presentation box and paperwork.

About Accutron

Bulova Company was founded in 1875 by Joseph Bulova. Based in New York, they moved to 580 Fifth Avenue in 1920. In 1923, Bulova Watch Inc. was introduced. In 1927, on the rooftop of 580 Fifth Avenue, he set up an observatory to be able to precisely determine the universal time. In 1941, Joseph Bulova decided to increase his company's reach by utilising television advertising, producing the world’s first television advert. It was the first time that commercial advertising was allowed on US television. He developed standardised watch production and was the first to create a fully electronic watch using tuning-fork technology. Bulova has collaborated with many people and organisations, including Lindbergh and NASA. During the very first moonwalk, a Bulova timer was placed in the sea of tranquillity. The company was bought by Japan’s Citizen Watch Company in 2008.
