Down the right side, we have piston-style chronograph pushers and a signed crown, a smooth polished bezel that holds a domed sapphire crystal above a dynamic tri-coloured sub-dial chronograph matte white dial. An outer 1/10th of a second scale chapter ring, one rotation every 10 seconds, surrounds a black 1/100th of a second scale each precisely executed, applied Rhodium-plated baton indexes have faceted edges infilled with Super LumiNova that play with the light as you rotate your wrist. Zenith will forever be one of my favourite brands and this model is easily one of my all-time favourites from the modern releases! The watch looks perfect on the wrist, the design is a perfect throwback to the original and brings all that vintage charm but with modern reliability and build quality. It isn't often I would struggle to choose between a vintage and modern watch, but in this case, this reference may pull me away from a vintage model!
Zenith was founded in 1865 by 22-year-old watchmaker Georges Favre-Jacot. Their manufacturing was based in Le Locle Switzerland. Famous Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, who was the first person to reach the South Pole in 1911 and the North Pole in 1926, wore Zenith watches on his expeditions. In 1999 Zenith was purchased by LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) joining brands like TAG and Hublot. Zenith is one of the only Swiss manufacturers to still produce their own in-house movements. Their most recognised movement is the El Primero; it was released in 1969, went into production in 1975 and was re-issued in 1986.
