Its purposeful 40mm case, matte black ceramic bezel and distinctive moulded Super-LumiNova dial create a wonderfully stealthy tool-watch aesthetic, backed up by an impressive 600 metres of water resistance and ISO 6425 certification. Inside sits the COSC-certified Sellita SW300-1 automatic movement, while the bracelet, fitted rubber strap and Zulu-style NATO provide plenty of versatility. Complete with its Vertex Peli Case, accessories and paperwork, this is a proper modern tool watch built to be used.

More Information

Description

Here we have a 2022 Vertex M60C AquaLion No-Date Black DLC with a brushed 40mm stainless steel case that curves over your wrist with thick tapered lugs. Don has taken his inspiration from the Vertex dive watches of the 1950s and 60s and given them a more contemporary look and feel, using modern materials and technology, and a lug-to-lug length of 49mm and a case thickness of 14mm to give the watch an impressive wrist presence. A signed screw-down crown with knurling for extra grip is on the right side. The watch has undergone rigorous tests to achieve ISO 6425 certification, which is no mean feat for any watch manufacturer; it shows Vertex will go the extra mile to produce a tool watch worthy of that accreditation. A rotating dive bezel has a matte black ceramic insert, the first 15 minutes highlighted, all coated in Super-LumiNova Grade X1, holding a domed sapphire crystal above a matte black dial. An outer minute track has the characteristic moulded Super-LumiNova X1 batons and 12, 3, 6, and 9-hour markers as seen on the M100 series; steel sword hands are filled with Super-LumiNova X1 and complemented by a tapered sweeping second hand. At noon, we have the Vertex motif, and at 6 o’clock, “C.O.S.C. 2000 FT/600 M” in red, completing this versatile dive tool watch with all the right credentials for any professional diver or adventurous skin diver. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with an engraved AquaLion Trademark in the centre; inside, an automatic Sellita SW300-1, 25 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, COSC-certified. This workhorse movement has hacking seconds and hand-winding for your convenience. The watch comes paired with its 20mm fitted Vertex quick-release brushed stainless steel bracelet with a signed deployment clasp with flip lock; all links are provided, plus an additional fitted 20mm Vertex rubber strap and 20mm Vertex Zulu-style NATO strap with a pin buckle. The watch comes with its Vertex Peli Case, accessories and paperwork.

Personal Note

For me, this is one of the best stealth dive watches out there. The black DLC case, ceramic bezel and matte black dial give it that properly purposeful, almost military feel that suits Vertex perfectly. There is, however, one slight problem with calling it stealthy: the lume is ridiculously good! Those three-dimensional moulded Super-LumiNova numerals and markers absolutely come alive in the dark, glowing with an intensity that somewhat defeats the idea of disappearing into the shadows. That contrast is part of what makes the M60C so much fun. Understated and purposeful during the day, then anything but subtle once the lights go out. Add the 600m water resistance, COSC movement and ISO certification, and this is a seriously capable dive watch with plenty of personality. Add it to your collection today!

About Vertex

Vertex was the brainchild of Claude Lyons of London, born in 1885. At the age of 17, he started his involvement in the watch Industry. With the help of a £1000 loan, he set up Dreadnaught Watches in 1912. In 1915, they were producing watches for the British armed forces during WWI. In 1916, he founded Vertex Watches Ltd in both Hatton Garden and Switzerland. In 1927, Vertex became the exclusive importer of Movado Watches to the UK. 1938, Henry Lyons Claude's son-in-law joined the company. In 1940, their Hatton Garden premises were destroyed by a Luftwaffe bomb. In 1941, as a Captain in the British Army, Henry was asked to create a watch suitable for the British military. 1944 saw the production of the Cal.59 W.W.W. Nav watch. Business continued successfully throughout the 50s and 60s. Sadly, in 1972, due to the emergence of the Quartz revolution and the expiration of his lease in Hatton Gardens, Henry closed the Company. In 2015, Clau de’s great-grandson, Don Cochrane, re-established the Company.
