The watch comes paired with its original 22mm Seiko 5-link polished and brushed Jubilee stainless steel bracelet with a signed folding clasp and secure lock. The watch is from July 2022 and is sold in worn but fantastic condition as you can see, worn a handful of times at most. The watch comes with its Manufacturer's Warranty.

The Watch

Here we have a  2022 Seiko 5 Sports GMT "Batman" SSK003K1 with a 42.5mm stainless steel case, this is the first GMT in the Seiko 5 Sports range and features polished and brushed surfaces that transition with crisp edges. A lug-to-lug length of 46mm and a case thickness of 13.5mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence, Seiko gets their wrist ergonomics so right and you can expect a comfortable fit on your wrist. At 4 o’clock on the right side, a crown with deep knurling for extra grip is protected by crown guards. A two-tone 24-hour bezel has black for the nighttime hours and blue for the daytime hours hence the “Batman” nickname. A flat hardlex crystal sits above a blue sunburst dial, the 24-hour chapter ring is precisely printed with applied discs and rounded baton indexes marking the hours infilled with LumiBrite. At 3 o’clock a framed date window with cyclops magnification on the crystal. The hands coated in LumiBrite consist of an arrow and sword hand with a tapered sweeping second hand and a red arrow GMT hand. At 12 o’clock we have the Seiko motif and at 6 o’clock Automatic with a red GMT completes this highly legible sports tool watch. On the reverse a screw-down exhibition case back and inside an automatic Seiko Cal. 4R34, 24 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. This GMT  movement was released in June 2022 and had hacking and hand-winding for your convenience. Pull out the crown to the second position and rotate anti-clockwise to change the GMT hand in one-hour increments and clockwise to change the date. The watch comes fitted on a 22mm Seiko 5-link polished and brushed Jubilee stainless steel bracelet with a signed folding clasp and secure lock and comes with its Seiko presentation box and paperwork.

Personal Note

I cannot deny the value that this watch presents and I truly think that was made with the collectors in mind, with so many Seiko mods out there featuring awesome GMT bezels but always lacking the GMT function, it feels as if Seiko noticed and acted! If you're after an automatic GMT that is super affordable, fun and built amazingly, jump on this one!

The Brand

Seiko’s history began in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori established the K. Hattori retail and repair store. In 1892 Seikosha was established to make wall clocks. 1895 saw the production of their first pocket watch. 1913 saw the launch of their first wristwatch, the Laurel. In 1924 the first Seiko was manufactured. Daini Seikosha (now Seiko Instruments Inc.) was established in 1937. Seiko was listed on the Tokyo stock exchange in 1949. The Suwa factory became independent and formed Suwa Seikosha Co., Ltd. (now Seiko Epson Corporation in 1959). In 1956 Seiko launched Marvel as their first true in-house-made watch; they continued to make this watch until 1959. Japan’s first chronograph watch was introduced for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics; it was called the Seiko Crown Chronograph monopusher. Not stopping there Seiko launched Japan's first true divers watch, the Seiko Diver’s 150M fitted with the automatic Caliber 6217 which later was given the nickname “62MAS” by collectors. The company name was changed to the Seiko Corporation in 1990. Innovation at Seiko continues today with GPS Solar watches.
