The Watch
Here we have a 2022 Orient Kamasu Mako III Red/Brown Auto RA-AA0814R19B with a 42mm stainless steel case, polished and brushed surfaces transition with crisp edges, and a lug-to-lug length of 46mm and a case thickness of 13mm ensuring a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side is a signed screw-down crown protected by crown guards, and a unidirectional 120-click bezel that has a two-tone red aluminium 60-minute dive insert with a bright red 15-minute scale printed on it. A flat sapphire crystal sits above a striking sunburst deep red/brown dial and applied disc and baton indexes coated in luminance mark the hours. At 3 o’clock a day date framed the window. Broad sword hand and arrow hand filled with luminance are complemented by a sweeping arrow point second hand, the text is precisely executed on the dial with an applied Orient coat of arms at 12 o’clock. On the reverse a screw-down exhibition case back showcasing an automatic Orient Cal. F6922, 22 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour, the in-house movement has hand winding and hacking for your convenience. The watch comes paired with its Orient 22mm stainless steel bracelet with a signed flip-lock folding clasp and comes with its Orient presentation box and unsigned papers.
Personal Note
This Orient Kamasu Mako III Red/Brown has quickly become my favourite Orient yet, with the tone of the dial contrasting perfectly against the bezel and the faux-patina on the lume, it is amazing! As always the build quality is fantastic and the watch wears beautifully on the wrist, it punches far above its price range so don't hesitate to add it to your collection.
The Brand
Orient has been a Japanese watch manufacturer since 1951, when it was reborn by Tama Keiki Company in 1950, which then changed its name to Orient Watch Company Limited in 1951, becoming fully integrated into Seiko in 2017. Its long heritage of in-house movements sits perfectly within the Seiko family. The 3 Star or Tristar stands for Quality, Design, and Price.
