Here we have a 2022 Ming 17.09 with a 38mm brushed and polished stainless steel case, the thick scalloped lugs have a lug-to-lug length of 44mm and a case thickness of 10mm for an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, is a signed screw-down crown with triple gaskets and a red safety indicator. The polished stainless steel bezel holds a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on both sides and sits above a two-part composite burgundy dial with laser-etched super-luminova X1 segments that float above the dial marking the hours and a fine Clous-de-Paris pattern in the centre, skeletonised hands are filled with Super-LumiNova X1. On the reverse, a screw-down case back, inside an automatic Sellita SW330.M1, 25 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour, modified by manufacturer Schwarz-Etienne, exclusive to MING. The watch is fitted on its original 20mm Jean Rousseau Paris Textured calf in taupe with a brown Alcantara lining strap with a signed buckle and comes with its MING presentation box, travel case and papers.
I have been fortunate enough to have sold multiple Mings over the years and I feel the 17.09 in Burgundy or Blue has become the Ming of choice for many, the one that best reflects the brand's design language and general attitude to watchmaking. The watch wears incredibly well and really does look great on and off the wrist, very photogenic.
MING is a collective formed and fully funded by six enthusiasts from around the world. The founder is Ming Thein, a photographer, designer, and business strategist. They all have a love for watches based in Malaysia.
