The watch is from December 2022 and is sold in worn condition, but overall very fair condition as you can see from the photographs. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

The Watch
Here we have a 2022 Mido Ocean Star GMT For Hodinkee Limited Edition of 999 pieces, sold to Hodinkee shoppers, it was globally exclusive on their website since they are a Mido Authorised Dealer. This design collaboration has been inspired by their vintage Mido Multi-center Chronograph. The 40.5mm polished stainless steel case curves over your wrist with tapered lugs, and a lug-to-lug length of 47mm and a thickness of 13.5mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. A signed crown with deep knurling for extra grip is on the right side. A rotating bezel with deep knurling has a 24-hour ceramic insert with Arabic numerals coated in Super-LumiNova holding a box glass sapphire crystal above a matte black dial. The black-and-white minute track has small Arabic numerals in white surrounding the applied baton indexes filled with Super-LumiNova marking the hours and a diamond index at 12 o’clock, and at 3 o’clock a date window white numerals on a black background. Sword and baton hands filled with Super-LumiNova are complemented by a red GMT hand and a steel-tapered sweeping second hand. At 12 o’clock we have the Mido motif and “Ocean Star” red “GMT” printed at 6 o’clock completes this dynamic travel companion. On the reverse a screw-down case back with the number 857 out of 999 and the details of the watch engraved around the edge, in the centre in relief of the Ocean Star starfish, inside an automatic Mido Cal. 80 C07.661, 25 jewels, beating at 21,600 beats per hour, the movement has a base of the Swatch-owned ETA 2824-2. The watch comes paired with a 21mm vintage-style leather strap, Mido mesh bracelet and Mido NATO strap and the watch comes with its Mido presentation box and paperwork.
Personal Note
As an owner and big fan of vintage Mido, I am always pleased to see modern Mido done well and this Ocean Star GMT Limited Edition for Hodinkee is one of them! The use of the old typeface is wonderful and the design works perfectly on the wrist, plus the fact this watch comes with 3 Mido straps total is amazing and I wish more brands would sell their watches with multiple straps as standard!
The Brand
Mido was founded by Mr Georges Schaeren in Switzerland in 1918. His first watches represented car radiators in shape and were advertised as motorist watches. One made in Platinum was given to the King of Spain in 1927. The word MIDO comes from the Spanish word “Yo Mido” meaning “I Measure”. Today they are part of the Swatch Group.
