Description

Here we have a quirky 2021 YEMA Digital 'Digidisc' Brown Dial Automatic, a contemporary reissue of a Yema digital watch produced in the 1970s. Featuring a 36mm polished and brushed stainless steel tonneau-shaped case that sits comfortably on your wrist with hooded lugs. Its curved flanks lead to a lug-to-lug length of 42.5mm and a case thickness of 11.5mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, a signed coin-edged screw-down crown. Sloping polished sides surround a satin-brushed top plate engraved with the ‘Y’ motif, and a rectangular sapphire crystal sits above a horizontal-stripe brown Digidisc dial. An aperture shows the two rotating discs for minutes and hours, and a helpful arrow pointing to the minutes. The Yema logo completes this distinctive vintage-inspired reissue. On the reverse, a screw-down case back, its outside edge engraved with the watch details, and the Yema crest in the centre, inside an in-house automatic YEMA Cal. YEMA2000, 29 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour. It comes paired with its 24mm stainless steel bracelet secured by a signed sliding clasp. This watch is sold with its original YEMA box and paperwork.

Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original YEMA box and paperwork. It comes paired with its 24mm stainless steel bracelet secured by a signed sliding clasp. The watch is from February 2021 and is sold in worn condition, but overall, it is in very fair condition, as you can see. The watch comes with our 12-Months NON-Waterproof Warranty.

Personal Note

This is a real anomaly in the Yema lineup of watches, released in the early 2020s as a tribute to the vintage mechanical 'Digidiscs' of their past. There isn't a huge amount of information out there, or even that many you see pop up on Instagram or for sale. This is the awesome YEMA Digital 'Digidisc' with the striking brown dial, which really plays well with the lights. This 36mm gem is powered by their automatic 'YEMA2000' and is super impressive on a spec sheet. I would not think twice about adding this to your collection today. If I weren't lucky enough to own a fair few vintage jump hours, I would keep this myself!

About Seiko

Yema was founded in 1948 by Henry Louis Belmont after he came top of his class at the National Watchmaking School of Besancon in 1931. The legend goes that the name Yema was created by a teenager's imagination who entered a competition run by Henry. 1963 saw the introduction of the Yema Superman, essentially made for dive professionals; it had a 300-metre water resistance. Its bezel lock system made it quite unique and was soon adopted by the French Air Force for its pilots. In the 1960s Yema became the leading watch exporter in France selling more than 500,000 watches a year in over 50 countries. In 1982 Yema went to space with Yema Spationaute 1.
