Points of Mention

This watch is sold with its original WMT box and papers. The watch comes paired with a 20mm NATO strap. The watch is from May 2021 and is sold in worn condition but overall very fair condition as you can see, the bezel is friction fit and a little loose in rotating. The watch comes with our 12-Months Warranty.

The Watch

WMT (Watch Experimental Unit) is a Hongkong based company founded by Alan Shum. Specialising in customised vintage Rolex homage watches with Japanese movements. Each watch is hand-assembled and given a distressed treatment making it unique. Their online store gives you many custom options for creating a watch of your liking.

This WMT Royal Marine “Milsub” takes its design cues from the Rolex Submariner 5517 mil-sub. The 39mm stainless steel case gently tapers towards the lugs. A lug to lug length of 46.5mm and a thickness of 14.5mm gives you an impressive wrist presence. Polished and brushed surfaces have crisp separation lines. On the right side, is a screw-down signed crown with crown guards. The friction fit bezel has knurled edging for grip and a black aluminium dive insert. A double domed acrylic crystal protects a black dial. Lumed disc and baton indexes with faux patina try to replicate aged Tritium marking the hours. Sword hands are complemented with an arrow point second hand, again lumed with the faux patina. Under the hands, we have the circled T which in the original stood for Tritium and continues its inspired mil-sub aesthetic. On the reverse is a screw-down case back with WMT 14080 engraving. Inside an Automatic Miyota. The watch comes fitted on a 20mm NATO and has drilled lugs for convenient strap swapping. The watch also comes with its WMT presentation box and papers

Personal Note

We have sold multiple WMT's and I am always blown away by how good they make them look for the price, the quality truly feels like the Rolex quality from the 1970s/80s! Take that as you wish, for me that's the era that has the most charm in watches, yes they aren't as well built or as reliable as today's super slick pieces, but I would always choose vintage over a modern personally, so WMT fills a nice gap for the best of both.
