Here we have a 2021 Nomos Metro Neomatik Silvercut Automatic 1114, featuring a 39mm polished stainless steel round case that sits on your wrist with the distinctive traditional wire lugs. Its curved polished flanks lead to a comfortable lug-to-lug length of 45.5mm, and a case thickness of 8.5mm gives the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side is a signed hobnail knurled crown. The slim, polished, smooth bezel holds a domed sapphire crystal. The Silvercut horizontal brushed dial features a sloping outer minute track that surrounds red dots at 12, 3, and 9, and small black dots in between, marking the hours. Elegant Rhodium-plated syringe hands sit above a recessed sub-seconds with a red hand. At 12 o’clock, the Nomos motif “neomatik” is printed underneath, completing this colourful, minimalist Bauhaus design-infused timepiece. On the reverse, a screw-down sapphire exhibition case back, inside an in-house automatic Nomos Cal. DUW3001, 27 jewels, 21,600 beats per hour. The movement features the NOMOS Swing System, the brand's in-house escapement, which provides excellent accuracy. Exquisite Cotes de Geneve and perlage decoration cover this movement. Tempered blued screws and the skeletonised rotor show off the attention to detail that a Nomos watch gives you. Nomos was founded in 1990, just after the reunification of Germany had happened with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the USSR. Based in the Glashutte region, it takes inspiration from the Bauhaus design movement. To have Glashutte on the dial, Nomos has to meet very strict quality standards. They must create at least 50 % of the watch calibre in Glashutte to receive the title of being a true Glashutte watch. They only use in-house manufactured movements, built up to 95% in the region, surpassing that requirement.
